I have a bunch of D10 and D6, but ask, which others and in what quantity should one have on hand to be prepared for the most rules out currently? I would imagine some D20's, but what else? |

I have about five sets of polyhedrals around for such games as Silent Death and Rail Wars. DBX and some other games require a averaging die. I just picked up my first from Chessex at con. Hard things to find, but Chessex has loads of nifty stuff. Hey, buy a bunch of neat dice, whether you can justify 'em or not. You can never have too many. |

All of them. But I mostly use d4, d6 and d10s.

D4, D6, D8, D10, D12. I don't use D20s, although there are some rules that do. Oh and D100 are always useful. |

Since I took to Piquet I bought d4,d6,d8,d10 and d12. A whole new world. |

I have all but a d30 but mostly use d6s followed by d20s for Infinity. Everything else is mostly for RPGs that I rarely do anymore. The occassional die is used for randomness now and again. |

For Ambush Alley and Force on Force I hace 25 each d6, d8, d10 and d12 with each type a consistent color so I can say 'Roll 6 of the yellow ones' when folks not used to different dice are playing. Jake |

D6 is the only dice out there as far as I am concerned. Nice and square, just like me. |

Hmmm
that means I'm a d10. Buldging in the middle. :-) |

I sometimes find a need for average dice. |

two more than you already have |

I have more dice then figures at one point last year! I run games for up to 16 players and require 10 dice each. Another game I use foam dice (kids) and require about 6 dice for each player. mostly d4, d6, d10s. VR James Mattes |

I can barely comprehend how many dice I have. I easily have 100 d20s and 100 d10s from the times I kept stockpiling them for GASLIGHT Games (Used d10s for a while
) not to mention the multiple complete poly-sets from my AD&D days. Then of course there are hundreds of d6

Plenty of D6s (love those 16mm Chessex ones
), a bunch of DFs (never able to score any of those gaudy fluoro ones though) that have seen minimal use, all manner of D20s, and some sets of D100s from back in the day. Have one or multiples of just about everything. In almost forty years of even on again/off again gaming, one accumulates a lot of dice. For a time, I belonged to the school of thought that believed they were capable of breeding
That was my excuse anyway. All I "need" these days, would be the D6s (THW products) and occasionally, the DFs. Duck |

Just having to provide myself with some dice for Saga
a set of eight for each different warband. Being the cheapo I am, I'm making my own with stckers and blank D6. |
| Dynaman8789 | 16 Sep 2011 3:50 a.m. PST |
"average" die. 6 sides with no 1 or 6 I think it is labelled 2,2,3,4,5,5 Deviation die – 6 sided with 2 bullseye markers and arrows on the other faces. D6, D8, D10, D12, D20 (Force on Force) Some games use D4 as well. Don't ever get a 100 sided die, except as a conversation piece – darn thing never stops rolling. |

Oh and some D16s for Slimline Middle Aged Spread. |
| religon | 16 Sep 2011 8:59 a.m. PST |
For games I design, generally multiple d6's and probably some d12's. Although I know of many that use d10's, the games I play rarely rely on them. d20 seems most common on my table after d6. |

ones that work
.dammit!!!!! |

DBX and some other games require a averaging die Which ones ? DBA and DBM certainly don't. Answering the question though, it depends on what type of games you want to play, but most historical wargames rules only require D6s. |

Thanks for the input. I just wanted to know which dice one would need on hand to be able to play most rule sets without having to go and order these or that those for this
. |

I think average dice have 2,3,3,4,4,5 on the faces. |
