Since deciding to do a 6mm FUBAR particiation game at my local clubs annual event I have been waiting for my steel bases to arrive, the post may have lost them.. I am sad. So whilst being impatient I have worked out the scenario and what the BUA will have. It will have a tanker truck.
Here it is:
It is from Xmarx and is actually their 8mm version, their 6mm version I found too small.
You can see it against other vehicles in an earlier post:

Lovely – great weathering on it too – really looks the part – what is that actual base colour? – nice sort of olive effect going on
..and what is your technique for windows? – these look really natural. |

Tanker looks good, though I am not too sure about the 8 mm choice here. Growing up a saw a lot of these types of vehicles roll off the lines at Oshkosh Truck. They are big – but not that big. I know it is not a specific existing model, but still
use what you know. Still, they look good. I have been waiting for my steel bases to arrive, the post may have lost them.. Do you not have a sheet metal shop (HVAC or similar can handle it as well). Before I bought my own shear, I used to have them cut my bases for me. Hit them up with a 6 pack before closing on a Friday and they will often do the work for cheap, cheap using off cuts. |

Ta. Base is Coat d'arms Tan Earth. Windows black, with a bit of blended grey a few times to make a select highlight or two and then gloss varnish. |

They are big – but not that big They are on this planet! Besides the 6mm version had a cab so small a man would not be able to sit in it.
I am happy to put the business to my steel sheet man. He is bonkers but offers good metal.

ScoutII, how much did a shear cost you? I have often thought about buying one too. |

Not to derail things too much, but I picked up a 36" combo machine (break, shear, roll
) from Grizzly Industrial a few years back for $350 USD or so delivered. They have changed their models – and that one doesn't look to be available (though they seem to have others that might work for smaller stuff). So far I have been very happy with it. I use it for other hobbies – as well as cutting bases
bending metal for terrain and other stuff. |
