Anyone have any links to detailed troop movements (battle maps)for this battle? Would seem to be a critical point in The Battle of the Nations. Thanks ahead for assistance. |

14Bore If you can find a copy of George Nafziger's Napoleon at Dresden (Emperor's Press) ..it has a really excellant account of the battle of Kulm
several maps of the stages of the battle and OoB. Kulm was a wasted chance for Napoleon to destroy the southern allied armies ..and the destruction of the I corp should never have happened. Runicus |

Kulm was a wasted chance for Napoleon to destroy the southern allied armies I believe the emperor was taken ill while organizing the pursuit, and therefore no pursuit was ordered, expect for Vandamme's Corps, which was, of course, left unsupported and destroyed. |

I believe the emperor was taken ill while organizing the pursuit, and therefore no pursuit was ordered, expect for Vandamme's Corps, which was, of course, left unsupported and destroyed. Napoleon organized and ordered a pursuit of Schwarzenberg. Vandamme acted aggressively but St Cyr failed to support him properly, which allowed Ostermann and Kleist to trap him at Kulm. Over half of the I Corps escaped and was not destroyed. Mouton became the new corps commander after Vandamme's capture. |
