I am painting some Japanese that have sat on my bench for the past three years and was wondering what colour their artillery should be? I have seen this question answered before with Japanese Artillery Brown, which goes some way to answering the question, but I would like to know what is the closest Vallejo paint to this colour? From what I have seen of models on the Net it looks a bit like British uniform, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Any suggestions will be gratefully recieved! |

Your barking and your choice of tree would seem pretty good to my eyes. English Uniform is what I would use. Of course, you can darken or lighten that colour to suit your tastes and still be close. I have also seen some pieces painted in green (say Vallejo German Camo. Dark Green). Not sure how common that would be. I have also heard of naval weapons used for island defense retaining their dark grey navy paint. Ken |

Foundry Peaty Brown A, B, and C is what I use, or Vallejo US Tan Earth actually. From the Japanese Tank Osprey it was more of a medium brown and faded rather quickly in the harsh heat, humidity, and salt air. It's probably the same colour paint they used on helmets, canteens, and mess tins (?). |

I was guessing it was the same colour that most of the equipment would be painted as well. I will vary the shades giving that jungle feeling! I should have mentioned that I am doing early Malaysia/Singapore Japanese, if that makes any difference. |

I am too! We are probably the only two gamers on earth that are. I have the Too Fat Lardies Scenario Books for Malaya "Fall of the Lion Gate" and "Bloody Burma",and they are both great. |

This thread was very timely. I just finished up my Japanese Type 92 105mm guns, Type 1 47mm AT guns, and some 20mm AA cannons. From what I read on this forum, Osprey Books, and other sites most artillery was a brown color. The examples I could find led to me to use Vallejo model air Khaki Brown. Its relatively close to vallejo model US tan earth. I have some pictures on my blog of the final results: link In previous attempts at the 70mm gun and 37mm AT gun I used Vallejo Reflective Green. At some point I will more than likely repaint them using the model air khaki brown. |
