Here's a question that has not been raised in a few years. I am heading to Stockholm, Sweden for business, but I expect to have one afternoon open for myself, and I wonder what would be the must-see for the occasional visitor.

In terms of attractions, I know at least of the Army Museum. What else?

In terms of drinks, what are the recommended local beers?

And in terms of hobby, is there any store worth visiting with rules/miniatures/boardgames/wargame sin general?

Thanks in advance!

You might consider the Vasa Museum. It's a warship from the 17th century (I think) that sunk on its maiden voyage. Raised and put in a museum. It's pretty cool.

The Vasa – was there a fortnight ago and it is super bra !

The army museum – is also super bra – I think they have a free english audio guide, wish I'd realised before we went around.

Avoid the Arsenal museum at th palace, unless you like looking at flowery dressses. You may. I didn't find that quite met expectations (there was some armour and swords, but not as much as you'd anticipate).

The historical museum – good viking stuff.

Beer – very expensive.

Oh – but check the times, they have weird opening times (like 11-4) and many museums aren't open on a monday.

My favourite Swedish lager beers:

Zeunerts
Mariestad

Another vote for the Vasa, and the ABBA museum :)

I was there 4 years ago and there was one game store in the central area and it was a GW shop, and that's all they had (forget the name).

Forget the game stores, stick to the Museums, you won't regret it.

A good hobbystore is Wentzells hobby on "Regeringsgatan 25" in the center of Sthlm.

It is not a gamingstore but a plastic model store. But they carry models that a gamer can use.

A true gamingstore is Arcane on Hagagatan 6 near Odenplan. It is only open on thursdays to sundays, Not sure when it is open but about from 11 – 18. It carries a good selection of OOP games, new games, WH stuff, Battlefront stuff and other wargaming things, worth a visit I´d say.

Museums, the Wasa museum is good, the armymuseum is boring. Not much to see.

A store called Science fiction bokhandeln (the sci-fi bookstore) on Västerlånggatan 48 in the old town have some wargaming stuff. Mostly GW stuff but a good selection of boardgames. They also have lots and lots of fantasy and sci-fi books and DVD:s

Beers, I can recommend the restaurant Akkurat on Hornsgatan 18 on "sodermalm". It has a huge selection of beers, both foreign and domestic. Great food and lots and lots of beer and whiskey with very knowledgeable people working there.

Annoying – spend a lot of time at Odenplan, didn't spot Arcane !

Bishops Arms, next to the Central Station, have lots of beer from small breweries. Go in, tell the barman what type of beer you like, enjoy.
I agree about the game stores, if you only have one afternoon, it's Vasa or the Army Museum.
