Gentlemen,

After more than a year of playing the simulation of the Battle of the Denmark Strait PBEM is over and we've a winner.

The detailed report of the battle can be downloaded in pdf (zipped) format by the following link, full of maps and images:
webalice.it/tombesis/The Battle of the Denmark Strait.zip

I take this news to once again thank all players for their commitment and the SKV's Admiralty for his very good Rules. Comments are very welcome.

It is also with great pleasure that I announce the new simulation will begin at the end of September / early October, entitled "Genoa 1940".

In this new simulation PBeM forces of the French Navy will be responsible for bombing the port of Genoa (Italy) countered by units of the Royal Italian Navy. A hypothetical scenario based on the forces at work in early 1940 during the Second World War.

Participation in this simulation is free and very welcomed and anyone who is willing can privately send an email to tombesis@alice.it.

The only requirements needed to attend the event are listed below:
- The possession of a copy of the SKV's Rules (with a good knowledge of the Flag and Bridge Orders system – no need of a good knowledge of other rules).
- The possession of a copy of both the Ships' Log CDs for the French and the Royal Italian Navies distributed by the staff of SKV.

I emphasize that the simulation will last for quite a long time, I recommend a certain willingness on the part of interested players. The simulation will have a scheduling one turn per week.

Thank you very much for your attention,
Simone Tombesi

A very fine and entertaining report. It seemed much closer to a real naval action than a typical wargame.

As captain of Sfk, I enjoyed playing in this naval game more then any face to face table game I have ever played. The fact that you only receive a map of what you can actually see and have to make descions based on guess about what is beyond the horizon is quite thrilling.

The radio message issue with missed messages and a lack of comms between ships was also a real different issue to deal with. ( at one point i thought thst the germans had Broken our codes and were reading my messages to my admirals The biggest drawback was using H1 vs H2. and allied forces not reporting positions so I could keep a plot of where everyone was and where greenland was!

I would highly recommend people play a naval battle this way.

It all began on October 10th, 2011.
After more than three years of continuous activity, the naval simulation has ended last November 30th, 2014.

13 players from all over the world, took the lead of more than 40 ships, including heavy, light cruisers and destroyers, belonging to the French Marine Nationale and to the Italian Regia Marina, to fight a battle lasted, in real time, more than five hours.

All this applying Seekrieg V Rules.

I am pleased to announce that the AAR is now available at this site : webalice.it/tombesis
I hope you enjoy reading it as we enjoyed playing this scenario.
