Before the revamped, remastered, half finished box set – actually more like a crate set – gets released, lets ponder on which of the Floyd's albums was the best. I'm in a generous mood so you can even vote for the ones without Roger Waters. If you really have to. But we'll all know you're just being silly. But, be my guest. I'm torn. Dark Side or Wish you were here are obvious contenders, but Meddle has "Echoes" and "One of these days". Then Atom Heart Mother has "Alan's psychedelic breakfast". Marmalade, I like marmalade. Cereals, all cereals are nice. Today I'll go with Meddle. Oh – compilations (other than Relics) are not allowed. They are an abomination not to be tolerated. |

Seconded – Meddle. An overlooked classic. |

Animals – a very good and coherent album. Meddle is great but not all of it has an "echoes" or "one of these days" quality. |

Tricky. "Wish You Were Here" got me into 'Floyd as a teenager. Still love it. But "The Wall" (audio and movie, saw the live show too) has me coming back for more the most. |

"Wish You Were Here" is my favorite. |

I've always though Darkside was their best "album". It just flows from song to song while setting and keeping mood all the way through. But none of my top 5 floyd songs are on there. Wish you were here, comfortably numb, on the turning away(yes i know no roger) brick in the wall prt2, mother. |

The first Floyd album I bought was Momentary Lapse of Reason, so I have a spot for that
. but The Wall / Final Cut followed by Animals would start off my list. |

Ooh. Good poll. Now I've wasted ages thinking about it and still can't decide. I know compilations aren't allowed but I do have a soft spot for Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd since it does have the longer version of When the Tiger's Broke Free, a track that should have been on The Wall but ended up on The Final Cut 2004 re-lease. Pah! I really only like Echos on Meddle. But The Final Cut (original version) is my choice as it is the one I play most often
Floating down, throught the clouds, memories come rushing up to meet me now
Marvelous |

Dark Side. We had two copies so that we could put both sides on the record players drop spindle so that we didn't have to get up and flip it over. |

Don't like them. I always thought they were just plain pompous. |

"Final Cut" & "Wish You Were Here" are the two I still listen to after all these years. "The Wall" is fun of course, and there's no denying a few of the songs on that album, but it's possible I've heard it too many times or something.. And yeah, OFM, they're pompous, but that's the beauty of it. You probably don't listen to any Metal either. (Or Opera for that matter.) |

This is a really, really tough one – I love Meddle and Atom Heart Mother. The Wall came out my Senior year in HS, so you can imagine how we rocked that . . . It's a tie for me, though, between Animals and The Final Cut. Both were very internally coherent – true ALBUMS, where one song fed the next. Ask what my favorite Roger Waters album is and it will get harder still! ;) Shawn. |

Do like Piper and Saucer, but not in the mood for either as often as the mid-period albums. Prefer to the last kickings of the post-Waters band : with Rick Wright on-board but no longer actually a band member. Pompous ? Never thought of them as pompous. Restrained springs to mind. Are you thinking of ELP or Genesis, perhaps OFM ? |

'Dark Side of the Moon'. I bought the album in the summer of '85 and been hooked ever since. By the way, it's the only album that can be sychronized to the classic film 'The Wizard of Oz'. Turner Classic Movies did that once, which was pretty freaky (in a cool way!). |

Floyd is before my time but I got hooked on them while attending collage. I would say my favorite album is Animals and I really enjoy listing to bootlegs from the Atom Heart Mother to Dark Side of the Moon era. -Bryan |

The Wall ws the first cassette I ever got as a child, got it for my birthday. My Brother (13 years older than me) used to have Dark side of the moon on his stereo and linked to a timer switch so it would wake him up each morning (my bedroom was the other side of the wall so I got woken up as well). But The final cut must be my fave, love them all though especially The Division Bell (I know this dosen't count). Roger. |
