Anyone know of any Buffalo Hunt rules? Hopefuly with a dismounted /foot option.
I'm hoping to adapt them for the Ice Age, Mammoths, Wolves, Eagles, Musk Ox & Buffalo. Oh and Sabre-tooths.
The stalking, stampeding, ensnaring/traping & killing to compare animal stat lines & reactions/defending kills against preditors, etc.

anyone?

The Old Glory Warpaint rules have a Buffalo hunt scenario.

The rules are a bit under explained and you would have to make some judgement calls to play a game but it should work.

Sounds like you want Tooth and Claw by Chris Peers. Or do you specifically want Plains Indians to hunt prehistoric animals?

Gladiator has rulers for bison

roll d8 for direction buffalo will travel, roll d12 for distance traveled – if both dice are equal they stampede (d12 + 10") – this starts the game. After that roll d8 and d12 and if d8 is 1 or 2 from original d8 roll make turn accordingly, same rule about stampedes.

Indians move on 2d8's distance, turning freely. They take a shot at bison if within 2", on d10 a 9 or 10 hits, unless repeated shot at same animal, then 8,9,10, then 7,8,9,10 (that's best shot) Animal rolls on d12: 1-3 dead, 4-6 serious wound -stops, 7-10 minor wound, 11 animal goes berserk and rolls d8 and d12 invidivually every turn, 12 animal charges attacking indian – who rolls to evade on a d6 – if 6 no evasion and roll again on d6 – 6 dead, 5,4 wounded, 2,3 flee (roll for direction and distance), 1 fire at buffalo again.

There you go. Fine tune on your own.

Thats all excellent, very many thanks.
I was hopeing to use as a solo caveman game with possible crossover for Lost Worlds stuff. Pre-horse Indians is also a challenge.
I was wanting a comparisson of what other folk had between various animal types & their reactions.
Tusk do have Mammoth hunting but thats it, just Mammoths & dinosaurs. Looks like I will give tooth and Claw a whirl.
I nearly bought Warpaint last month but was for some other reason.
thanks again
