Well, I ran the two games of MoM last weekend and both players liked it. I gotta say that I've never had such a positive response to a game, but maybe my enthusiasm rubs off during the game. Anyway, one comment was that I should paint my figures. I don't really want to do that, but I found some inspiration on BoardGameGeek: link

I really like the game and what they try to do with the puzzles and wiring diagrams is genius. That said I get a little bored with the puzzles, they aren't hard but they actually pull me out of the game instead of drawing me in. Have you tried the new "witch" expansion yet? Jason Stafford, VA |

Given that the Great Old Ones were here before Humankind, and for sure managed to raise human Cultists / worshippers from the earliest Paleolithic, 'Lovecraftian' games can be set in any period of History you like / already have humans minis. As already done (Strange Aeons), for instance (OK, I'm biased) the 18th C.: link The same is true, of course, with 'generic' games such as 'Chaos in Carpathia': I can't see why such adventures: link could not be played with figurines 'in tricorne' (OK, OK
). TMP link And given that Sheridan Le Fanu en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmilla : gutenberg.org/ebooks/10007, Bram Stoker, Jean Rollin's movies link and 'Twilight' agree at least on the fact that vampires can walk unnoticed among 'us', the lack of 'vampire' (tusks, pointed ears..) in period costume is not an obstacle. Then for the 18th C. (Again? Yes indeed
?), if you *really* want specific bloodsuckers in miniature, some of Foundry Elves, while unfortunately of the 'Big Foot' clan, can be suitable (specially the females): link link link link link |

Reportedly Napoleon said that a good image is worth 100 lengthy blah-blah, so: Possible 18th C. female vampires:
Foundry Possible opponents:
(Valiant 'Pilgrim') And of course many of the numerous 'pirate ladies' link As for zombies in period costume link , yes, there you need special minis, and most of commercially available are modern-era era specific. But it's rather easy to 'customize' normal figurines. Movie zombies are normal persons with a few prosthetics and a lot of make-up. Scratching miniatures (# what Hinterland did to 'zombify' some of the Hussarettes) gives the first, appropriate painting the second. For instance for Victorian times
from link'Weathering' could add to the 'special' aspect of 'zombified' figurines link linkFor 18th C. maroons and Toussaint l'Ouverture's Haitians may provide a good basis, with their slouched or flat-topped hats turned into tricornes. A *tricorne* 'tags' immediately a mini '18th C.'
from linkAs for 'werewolves in tricornes' (in addition of course to 'The company of Wolves', but indeed with a touch of Little Red riding Hood: YouTube link Background: link link |

In the vein of 18th C. 'Agents of the Crown' specially appropriate for 18th C. games of 'Strange Aeons' or 'Chaos in Carpathia' (and as minis 'diverted' from their original objective, which always adds some enjoyable spice), Privateer Press (Warmachine) Cygnar Arcane Tempest Gun Mages link link
with their tricornes and black powder pistols could be original yet credible. With some conversions (headswaps to wear tricornes, 'archaization' of shooting weapons), Aberrant Games Vatacina Guard link link could also become 18th C. Provost-Marshal's 'SWAT' or some kind of light infantry with an uniform no more 'exotic'' than that of the historical 'Arquebusiers de Grassin'. |
