Will is off to college and wanted a portable layout for his post-apocalyptic version of Tomorrow's War.

Looks fantastic…It looks like the "hood" I work in…

BrianW18 Aug 2011 6:57 a.m. PST

Very nice indeed. I thought it was a picture of a real building at first; then I looked at the "sky" behind it.

Looks great! I like that he came up with some fluff to justify his setting. Thumbs up for that.

jpattern218 Aug 2011 7:02 a.m. PST

Excellent!

Tom Reed18 Aug 2011 7:13 a.m. PST

Really nice work. The cracked sindows are a great touch. Theplayground really gives me a creepy feeling.

53Punisher18 Aug 2011 7:14 a.m. PST

Wow! Very cool. He does excellent work. I'd be a proud papa too. :)

ordinarybass18 Aug 2011 7:26 a.m. PST

Wow! I too thought I was looking at a real building when the picture first popped up.

Looks like a case of the student has become the master eh?

I really hope my son takes to wargaming. Of course he has to learn to walk and talk first…

Jovian118 Aug 2011 8:13 a.m. PST

Awesome work. I would like to know where he got the buildings. Excellent painting and detail work on them too!

Angel Barracks18 Aug 2011 8:42 a.m. PST

Excellent stuff.

assuming studies and girls at Indiana University don't get to him first

Chuckle, aye there is that.

Martian Root Canal18 Aug 2011 8:42 a.m. PST

@Terrement: he agrees with you. He has rubble piles, burned out cars, etc., as add on terrain pieces in the works.

@Jovian1: most of them are model RR buildings that he has heavily converted. Mostly Walthers, Model Power and DPH kits or parts.

Jay Arnold18 Aug 2011 9:05 a.m. PST

Very nice work. The broken windows are a nice touch.

Luckyjoe18 Aug 2011 9:25 a.m. PST

What a beautiful table. Great job!

deanoware18 Aug 2011 9:31 a.m. PST

So I take it his games are set in Detroit?

Martian Root Canal18 Aug 2011 10:03 a.m. PST

One trick he learned on the windows is that you can use clam shell miniatures packaging to cut up for the windows. Then simply spray the whole model with Dull Coat after painting. The windows "frost" naturally. Then he went in with a little white to do the edges and highlights.

Nicely done!

And that's not Detroit – the streets are way too clean

OldGrenadier at work18 Aug 2011 10:14 a.m. PST

That is some seriously good work!

mweaver18 Aug 2011 10:25 a.m. PST

That is a nice setup! Hope the game goes well.

Holy Cow! Makes the stuff I played on in college (green felt and masking tape) look really poor.

Love that set up.

kallman18 Aug 2011 11:33 a.m. PST

Well done and a great idea.

Stone Cold Lead18 Aug 2011 12:05 p.m. PST

Stunning stuff! Saved a few shots for my own reference.

Consider me envious… Great looking stuff there.

Augustus18 Aug 2011 6:01 p.m. PST

Might be one of the better neighborhoods in Detroit.

Could also be Washington DC or Philidelphia.

Psyckosama18 Aug 2011 7:05 p.m. PST

Philadelphia is not that bad!…

Well, most of it…

Well, some of it…

Anyways, how did he do the windows?

Joep12318 Aug 2011 7:11 p.m. PST

Great job!
Thanks for sharing.

Great buildings. The weathering on them is fantastic.

Landorl19 Aug 2011 1:10 p.m. PST

I love it! I wouldn't have any problems using those buildings in modern times. They look like the older side of many cities, or some older smaller cities.

Wow, somehow I missed this. It is awesome! Very nicely done. However, I would humbly suggest that for PA action there are several other choices. Wastelands and Combat Zone are two very good ones!

Thanks,

John

Little Big Wars20 Aug 2011 7:04 p.m. PST

These are truly beautiful… if only Janitoria looked so nice…

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART21 Aug 2011 12:23 p.m. PST

Glorious. I have some of those buildings myself. I'm keeping them clean for Pulp and Zombie gaming but the temptation to do the above is almost overwhelming.
It's a good feeling when the kids turn out OK ain't it?
