Irrational Number Line Games has a new scenario in the Free Stuff based on the Seven Samurai plotline. Genre and system independent, it add a new victory point mechanism and throws away the regular teams you are used to. Give it a shot and then give it a rave or rant
[crossposted to several scenario boards, so if you wanna say this rox or sux, please give us a hint what genre you're considering] Pax, |

Justified cross-posting: the storyline was also re-used for 'Battle Beyond the Stars'
(and does share essentials with 'Guns for San Sebastian' link ). An isolated community harassed by 'irregulars': it could be used in almost any period, provided times are 'troubled' or the village really isolated (e.g. the fringes of Canada during the FIW, a Roman villa North of the Hadrian Wall
). And you always can in addition replace the 'irregulars' with werewolves
The French Canadian movie " Le poil de la bte" (avoid mistyping a 'i' for a ''!)
is practically similar to 'Guns for San Sebastian', but set in Nouvelle France and the isolated village is harassed by werewolves. |

I don't know about the rules you are using but the title should be 'Shichinin no Samurai'. l̎. If I were to skirmish game with using a seven samurai based game, then I would do it with samurai. I would base it on the decline of the Samurai as a warrior class during the Tokugawa Shogunate like in the movie '13 Assassins'. |

@abdul – Yep. The story is not original to Seven Samurai, however I thought that would be the most widely known reference. I will have to grab Le Poil de al Bte. One of my wife's friends is French, so I don't think she would let me get away with that little spelling error ;) @Doerchele – Can't argue with the preference. Also can't argue with the decline of the samurai class as an interesting period to research or game. This game, however, is more of a pulp-type heroic thing (like the movie). That's part of why, while it was cross-posted to a lot (hopefully not too many) boards, I didn't send it to the Classical Asian Warfare board. I don't think the scoring system or layout would work for what you are talking about. |
