How will Songs of Gods and Heroes differ from the original SBH and the forthcoming Songs of Spear and Shield.

I know than Gods and Heores is Greek myth themed but can anyone give a basic rundown of the main concepts?

Cheers,

Nic

5-6 pages of basic rules are the same, but the warbands are Greek themed powers and abilities, and they have blessings (or curses) of the Gods that they must try to fulfill or avoid.

They also collect Glory points (but beware because too much Glory turns into Hubris and the Gods really begin hating you at that point!).

Some basic special rules are the same, other are given a Greek makeover, and lots are completely new. Most demigods and Heroes are statted so if you want to play an Argonauts campaign or the labors of Herakles, you can.

SSS is completely different -- it plays at a slightly larger scale (15 to 50 models per player) although still a skirmish game (one fig is one man).

So SGH will have stats for satyrs, centaurs, maenads and the like?

Pan?

If it's not too much to ask (I know you are still recovering and these rules are still in dev.), how will divine blessings/favour work?

Really excited by the sounds of these so far! Let me know when you need playtesters!

All you mention are in and then some.

Divine favour has two mechanics, some are just warband advance (buy them with xp and use them once per game) others are checks vs your Glory/Hubris total (I'm still working on the mechanic)

I'll ask for playtesters on the yahoo group when the draft is stable. Sorry gotta finish other games before that…

Andrea,

This sounds great, any future thoughts to a Viking/Norse supplement? No need to rush, just basically planting a seed for thought! lol

BadKarma,
my big plans are for Celtic, Norse, Japanese and Chinese myth. Fantasy is a big subject once you start to draw in the real world mythologies.

Looking forward to those later books, Japanese and Chinese. Love some Song of Blades and Heroes.

Any further news about this project? I've just ordered mini's for another Greek themed warband (humans with a minotaur).

Still keen to playtest it as soon as the rules reach that stage.
