I finished painting these units. I'm still considering how to finish the bases. Stats were previously linked to here.

Nice looking unit! I do, however, have a hard time with Eagles and Goblins working together. Vultures? You betcha, Baby! Now if someone would make the figures in 25mm
;-) Thanks for sharing. Cheers! |

Are those Copplestone Grenadier/Mirliton eagles? That company also has a Dark Elf Vulture rider. For giant crows there was one in the old Crucible line (now available from Ral Partha Europe). It's not as big as a giant eagle but probably big enough for a goblin to ride, probably (never seen it in the flesh). Cheers,David |

They look great to me. I like the eagles. I'm not sure birds have a high moral sense. I've seen eagles eat carrion just as readily as vultures or crows. Eagles would also be better in combat – faster for one and with an inbuilt urge to attack moving, live prey. |

They are D&D pre-painted "Giant Eagles" #18 from Night Below. It looks like they have appreciated since I bought them. I am a bit of a heretic fantasy wargamer as animals are mounts without ethics and not every race is uniformly evil or good. I am comfortable with tribal goblins on eagles, horses, lions or giant bunny rabbits. (I previously posted links to the two prototype figures with stats for BattleSystem players, so here is the flock.) GW mounted these goblins on spiders. I think these figures a big improvement as the riders are more pronounced. I also need the loose spiders for a The Hobbit game. |

Eagles as "good guy" mounts is, of course, a Tolkien thing. Of course, those Eagles were intelligent and allies of the Istari. |
