This museum in Sintra Portugal, has a truly amazing WW1,WW2,Napoleonic,Interwar,etc. The Museum belongs to the town and the collection belongs to my uncle,Sintra and Estoril are very close to Lisbon a mere 20 minute drive so worth a visit to all of us who like this themes. Also I would really like to have a wargaming event here perhaps something I have been thinking about for years and now perhaps next year it might happen who knows? Gui

It's a very good collection of toy soldiers and bygone toys. I've been there for a few times but I don't really like the display organization, it's cramped – should have less minis and a more detail info. The bottom shelves are very hard to look at. None of the less it's a wonderfull collection well worth visiting. |

Thank you all and if one of ever visits Portugal let me know via TMP email or the Gothic Line site: gothicline£sapo.pt gothicline.webs.com This museum is already old as it was an old XVII Century palace then an Fire dept. barracks and now a Museum. There was a lot of argument towards it“s architectural project it has some faults like displaying niches to low too deep and too high
architects
an I am an architect myself so believe me I would like to improve things. Yes the shelves are really cramped ataulfo,it was my uncle's choice to have them really loaded just like he had them in his home
so some of them are cramped but others are better. I can understand my uncle as he wanted to have all his troops on display and very little on "reserve",the matter is more an architectural option of having vast areas of white walls and as a result less space for the collections, and I know of the 4 stories the soldiers would need at least one just for themselves(but I am bias of course). |

None of the less a great museum and collection and I think it would be a great idea to have a wargaming event with some of the minis with H.G. Wells "Little Wars" rules or some of that kind. |

Exactly! I have an amazing article published in the old Military Modeling with that in mind,he uses wood blocks for walls, bridges etc.and looks great! Next week I might go there again and take pictures of the non WW2 soldiers so you can have a more complete tour! |
