I have been thinking about making a 25/28mm Gnome army, or at least a small contingent to go with my dwarves. I am not looking for the garden gnome looking figures. Think more D&D style gnomes. It crossed my mind that this may be doable by using a smaller scale figure. Anyone have any recommendations. I looked at some 18mm dwarves but they presented too much of a Norse look. If anyone has any suggestions in 25/28mm or a suitable stand in, that would be great.
Thanks Chad

since I use the big gw fantasy dwarves I could see using the LotR ones as gnomes

Depending on the 28's you are using, I would second the LOTR GW dwarves and suggest the Hasslefree dwarves as well.

Brigade Games has a huge line of 28mm gnomes of various nationalities alongside the traditional Swiss style. I have a nice little samurai gnome skirmish force.

We have an entire range that is ever expanding.

My dwarves are mostly the old Ral Partha (Iron wind carries these now) with some mega mini war machines. How would the GW LOTR compare with these? I'm guessing the GW LOTR would match as dwarves not gnomes.

I looked at the Brigade games site, some nice looking stuff. Just not what I'm looking for, although I will probably end up getting the St. Bernard mini for my wife, to match our 3 live ones. Thanks.

Five years late to the party, but… I would recommend Essex Gnomes, found here. I own around 30+ of these figures, comprising a Gnome Army for my 2nd Ed. BattleSystem games, as well as my AD&D RPG games. The photo's on Essex's catalog are very accurate -- what you see, is what you will get. They stand about 20mm tall, but I have not measured them in years, so I could be a bit off.

I was conducting an Internet search for 28mm Gnomes, to locate more figures to enlarge my Gnome army, and I came across this link in the search results. Sorry I missed this posting back in 2011. If you read this post, and you would like to see photo's of my painted Gnome Army, let me know, and I will post some photo's for you. plasticwars[a-t]gmail[d-o-t]com.

I also have their [no photo available/not-armored badgers pulling it] Chariot model painted, and based. It is a nice model. It had three standing figures, but only two will fit in the chariot -- not a problem as the 3rd Gnome is fine on its own base.

I live in the USA, so shipping will be by air mail, across the Pond. Even with this, the figures price out at less than $1.80 USD per figure, when buying a lot of 15 figures! And that includes the postage factored in. I don't think anyone can touch Essex on price; the quality is very good, though not highly detailed -- which I prefer! I am an army painter: basic block painting; The Dip; dull coat; base, and game on! YMMV. Cheers!
