Hi new to the board and the Game. Just bought about 133 Aircraft from Tumbling dice (love them). But as I was looking at the Me-163 I wondered, how to mount them to a stand? I've researched and saw plenty on magents and other stands, But they are so tiny!! the magnet seems bigger then the model itself. Any other Me-163 fans out there with an idea? (Any advice on painting would greatly help as well)

The magnet's surprisingly unobtrusive – because it's underneath and you're usually looking down at the models.

I agree with Don on the magnets. You will hardly notice them. I tried drilling holes and inserting small flat head tacks, but ruined a number of a/c for the same final appearance.

For painting, I recommend you choose brighter colors than color schemes call for. The small scale causes the colors to appear darker than normal and the differences in shades tend to disappear, esp. if you use a magic wash. It will take some experimenting to find the colors you like.

Magents are the way to go then, Next question where to get a bunch (inexpensivly) and roughghly how many stands per game do you guys use? I'm sure it depends on the game but on average, how many so i have an idea of what to get.

I play Check Your 6. After a couple of games, 1 player can easily handle 4 aircraft at a time. More if they are bombers.

i drill a hole and use a bit of brass wire between the plane and the stand.
Magents seem a lot of bother to me – especially on planes as small as the komet with that nice slim dorsal area.

If you really want to save cash on stands then you can pull the wire out of it. The stands I use are only a few pence each.

Stick to bright colours and a wash works well over TD planes with their deep panel lines.

We play Bag The Hun and tend to use up to 12 planes a side.

the migs are just aluminium paint with GW wash and the corsairs have some rather splendid decals from a man called Dom.

I do have some of the magnets for mounting mine From Dom. But the wire idea from bendsinister looks good to me too. And might be cheaper. I think it would work well for the Me-163. Robert

I had thought about using the wire as well, that way it could be bent slightly to indicate climbs, dives and banks. I work in Aviation so I have a ready supply of Aircraft safety wire of various thicknesses. All your guys paint jobs are superb. I have been modling for years but nothing this small I hope mine turn out half as good. I plan to get my Decals from Dom, it was his site with the pics of the Tumbling dice mini's that sold me on them. Thanks to all for your help!

I get my magnets from KJMagnetics. I use a 1/8th x 1/32nd disk magnet. The magnet is so thin, its barely visible, but works fine with 1/600ths.

I use a ball bearing and a ring magnet to connect my planes to the stands.

Here is a big dogfight, you can see all the planes pitching and rolling.
