We are down to the last two. I was going to suggest we call it as we hit the last three (because of the 1 up 2 down nature, it comes down to to which ever periods fans come here most often). Thus I intend to call the game here. 12-Science Fiction* 11-Fantasy* 10-WW1* 9-Napoleonics 8-Modern 7-ACW 6-Renaissance 5-19th Century 4-18th Century 3-Medieval 2- Ancients (Provisional) WINNER WW2 (provisional) *Note due to a recalc on page 1 Fantasy was indeed resurrected (you just can't keep a good zombie down). SF was the first to fall after the recalc, but the fact that Fantasy was dead' may have affected the voting. WW1 was eliminated on the same post as Fantasy, but I have posted it ahead because of this resurrection. Thank you for playing. The big surprise was the two big musket periods going out so easy. It appears they each went for the throats of the 'pretender'! WW2 is no surprise, especially as I had amalgamated 3 boards (land, sea and air) so there was a chance of more fans. Ancients are of course one of the 'historic' Gaming periods, with adherents back to the WRG 1st edition. Added to that it covers 1000's of years, so disparate groups were again brought under the same umbrella. |

Well, that was a fun game. I should think WW2 and ancients really are the two most popular periods. I was, however, very surprised to see Napoleonics and ACW do so poorly -- I would have thought they would have been next in popularity. Last Hussar wrote:

Back in the old days, we only had three periods, "Ancients", "Horse and Musket" and "WW2". All the best, John. |

You had Horse AND Musket. Pah. We had to choose

Notice that this was not actually a popularity contest – it was the hurting bit that was most significant in determining who would survive. And there seems to be something in Napoleonic wargaming (or perhaps rather in the gamers) that manages to upset a bunch of folks. |

Maybe we should try this again this year! To see if the wider adverstising of the existence of such a type of thread (from the poll currently running) makes any difference to the result. |
