Hey Peoples
I am looking for Dick Tracy Miniatures for a pen-n-paper game and I am having a hard time finding anything that fits the bill. Now I have found a number of basic pulp 30's era gangsters and police but I can't quite find any miniatures that would work well with Dick Tracys colorful rogues gallery. So any help would be great, I am a big fan an always wanted to run a Pulp games following the Tracy format!

Formerly Regiment Games Fezian05 Jul 2011 7:08 a.m. PST

I would buy those in a heartbeat. Maybe if nobody else does not-D-T figs, I will!

MrFrost05 Jul 2011 7:34 a.m. PST

I am really hoping someone has sculpted these classic characters! It would be a shame to pulp gamers everywhere not to have these treasured characters! Think of the many miniatures of the Shadow and Batman but no Tracy?!?

The Shadow05 Jul 2011 7:38 a.m. PST

There are no Dick Tracy figures or characters from the strip in 28mm.

MrFrost05 Jul 2011 7:44 a.m. PST

Thats dishearting I must say. I really hope someone takes up the call and sculps these way overdue classics!

MrFrost05 Jul 2011 8:05 a.m. PST

I'd be more then happy to do so, how do I go about addeding my name?!?

Formerly Regiment Games Fezian05 Jul 2011 9:02 a.m. PST

Don't get too excited. I have not had a new line in a year and you guys know it takes me a long time to do a project. I am stationed in Saudi Arabia right now, but of course most biz would be by mail/e-mail anyway.

I would want the figs to look like the comic strip characters, not a "realistic" fig like in the movie.

It's possible, though. If any sculptors are watching this thread who would be interested in such a project, PM me or regimentgames at yahoo dot com. Finding a motivated sculptor (oh, yeah, and not too expensive) is always my first step!

If somebody else jumps on such a project first, let us all know.

Thanks,
Steve

I had always liked the comic characters more so then the movie versions. Its good that there is some interest and its a good start! Now its just a matter of things falling in the right place!

flooglestreet05 Jul 2011 9:12 a.m. PST

I am interested in the figures too. A Dick Tracy game has been on my to-do list for a long time. There are IP issues as Max Allen Collins is drawing the strip now (I believe). Be sure to limit your paint palette the way it was limited in the Warren Beatty movie.

The Shadow05 Jul 2011 9:26 a.m. PST

I think we should offer comments on which characters that we'd like to see. Assuming a pack of four figures i'd say Dick Tracy, Sam Catchem, Pat Patton as chief of police, and Junior Tracy as the good guys, and Flattop, Prune Face, The Blank and The Brow as the bad guys. There are plenty of gangster minis available already to use as henchmen. Many of the other famous villains would be hard to depict. Shakey, without actually seeing him shake, would look very ordinary. 88 Keys would look ordinary too.

MrFrost05 Jul 2011 10:19 a.m. PST

I agree with the color palate from the film and the comic verisons of the characters. One thing I can never forget as a child was seeing that movie with all those vibrant coloers and over the top characters. What fun it would be to paint them and use em in a game. As for a list I made a small one up of my own, maybe they can be offered in three's?

Good Guys
Dick Tracy, Tess Trueheart, Sam Catchem, Pat Patton, The Kid, Breathless (cant quite think of a 6th hero, so she'll be a stand in)

Rogues Gallery
Flattop, Pruneface, Lips Mantlis, Big Boy, The Brow, The Mole, Steve the Tramp, Shoulders

flooglestreet05 Jul 2011 10:43 a.m. PST

Dont forget Diet Smith, Vitamin Flintheart, Gravel Gertie and B. O. Plenty. You need law abiding citizens to imperil.

What about Littleface Finney?

There's always Sparkle Plenty and Moon Maid.

Who is going to sculpt all those little signs that say things like "2 way wrist radio"?

I would buy any Dick Tracy or, in a similar vein, any Spirit character figures available in 28mm. I have plenty of crooks and cops and some civilians.

The Shadow07 Jul 2011 11:05 a.m. PST

The Spirit, Ebony White, Commissioner Dolan and Ellen Dolan.

Sure, it would be great to see all of the femme fatales, but it's tough to do really *really* good legs on a 28mm figure and as far as i'm concerned it would be very disappointing to see P'Gell, Sand Saref, Silk Satin, or Ellen Dolan for that matter, with poorly rendered gams. After all, their sex appeal is what they're all about. The only company that I know of that would do the Spirit women justice is Dark Sword. Here's a link:

flooglestreet07 Jul 2011 3:17 p.m. PST

If you can do the Spirit, how about Connie Rod, MSgt Halfmast and the rest of the PS gang waging a never ending war against gunk, sand, ham fisted radio operators and the other enemies of Army equipment readiness. Oh, and do the cheesecake versions, not the politically correct ones.

The Shadow07 Jul 2011 4:39 p.m. PST

How *about* Connie Rod? Woof Woof!

Copplestone has a very passible Dick Tracy in one of their "Gangsters" packs.

Not bad, but there have been several minis that could *pass*. What we'd like is a couple of packs of characters that are obviously Tracy and friends.

Eli Arndt09 Jul 2011 9:31 p.m. PST

I have thrown out this suggestion a few times through various routes.

Even if the figures weren't directly analogous to Dick Tracy enemies and such, characterful villains like those would likely sell well.

I know it's been awhile since I made this post but I guess its safe to say no progress has been made on finding anymore tracy miniatures or even making them for that matter?

mister droid02 Aug 2013 9:19 p.m. PST

The Aurora Space Coupe model comes with 1/72ish (closer to 25mm if I recall) figures of Dick Tracy, Junior, Diet Smith and Moon Maid. You can get the Polar Lights reissue for cheap on Amazon or Ebay.

MrFrost03 Aug 2013 7:25 a.m. PST

Thanks I'll have to check em out!

MrFrost12 Jul 2015 10:50 a.m. PST

So, I know it's been two years but I know Terrement was looking into getting these made. I am to assume this never happened?

Thing is I check this thread once and awhile hoping for some one to happen across em. I managed to find all sorts of cool miniatures I didn't expect to find in the deep dark corners of the interwebs but never any dick tracy minis. Kind if bummed.

The Shadow12 Jul 2015 11:28 a.m. PST

>>I am to assume this never happened?<<

Unfortunately, you are to assume correctly.

Pulp Girl14 Jul 2015 3:10 p.m. PST

I have a sneaking suspicion that Dick Tracy may have inspired this firgure….
