There were 50 people who said they would support this board… so let's see some activity!

21eRegt04 Jul 2011 8:35 p.m. PST

It was the rules of choice in my old group, but I haven't played a session in two or more years.

Battlesystem Message Board?????

Based on how active the Yahoo group is (and I am a member there) I have very low expectations of this boards longevity.

Thanks,

John

Another laughable waste of bandwidth.

I agree. I think the moderator of the Yahoo group suggested the board here.

More boards, lovely.

Oh, you Haters! If it offendeth thee, pluck it out. Or, turn it off. grin

Another laughable waste of bandwidth.
Are you paying for it? I see no Supporting Member icon, so why does it bother you? Are you afraid it will lead to the Heat Death of the Universe by increasing entropy?

Life is a constant downhill struggle against the forces of entropy.

Battle-what-what?

Has it occurred to anyone that maybe this group of 50 or so that keeps voting for these boards is just screwing with us?

Mehoy Nehoy05 Jul 2011 9:03 a.m. PST

Never heard of it. Is it a ballistic computer?

I have wondered the same about wargamer1972. I can't find the suggestions he made for Mighty Armies, BattleSystem, DBM, Mordheim and GASLIGHT, but that has been The Editor's ground's for creating these boards. In wargamer1972's defense, he may sincerely desire these rule-specific boards.

@Ninjasaurus Rex

It is a mass combat fantasy wargame. It is actually rather good, has a point system and is simple to build custom fantasy units for the game. It has some passing similarities to WFB.

The problem is that very few players play it actively…

I know that some club & local play continues, but convention play is rare. I hosted the last US convention game that I am aware of about 4 years ago.

It is OOP and unavailable for download. A couple of years ago, it was available as a $5 USD PDF. After that was no longer offered, I have been a bit pessimistic about a game that can't be acquired except second-hand.

No.

I see no Supporting Member icon, so why does it bother you?

Because I have the freedom to choose to let it. Live with it.

"Heat Death of the Universe by increasing entropy"

Nah. It's coming to an end on October 21 anyway. That guy had the first date wrong. So now he picks my anniversary. Sheesh.

Still play it, but infrequently. Rules are available off of e-Bay, typically less than $15. USD There was a skirmish version: AD&D light, the ancestor of 4th Ed. D&D; each 'level' translated to a Hit for the figure. Nice games, rules for land, air, and water (above/below surface could be played), siege, and underground fighting.

Allowed use of any figures, could use any setting/fluff you like. Magic was based on 2nd Ed. AD&D. Loads of fun. Cheers!

You can always find a used copy at a used bookstore for cheap! It's a great rule set!
