Those are beautifull pics of Mars. link Wonder to know if you think that we finally could colonized this big planet and if your answer is yes, how and when. Amicalement Armand |

Terraforming isn't out of the realm of possibility. Well, given the current global economic climate it is, but it's theoretically within our technological capability. From what I understand, however, it's not a long term solution, the effectiveness of our climate change possibly being measured in centuries. Worth a shot, though. :) |

Personally, I've always preferred these pictures of Mars:

Didn't someone ask about what 6mm Sci-fi terrain should be made ? I'd say something like those !! |

Mar's would still eventually lose any atmosphere we gave it. Not enough gravity to hold onto it. |

Gravity's not actually the problem, it's the lack of a magnetic field. Current theories suggest that Mars' atmosphere was eroded away by the solar wind. For an interesting take on colonizing and terraforming Mars try Kim Stanley Robinson's Red Mars/Green Mars/Blue Mars series. Not a lot of plot but everything you'd ever want to know (and more!) about Mars :) |

Never understood the idea that the lacking magnetic field is the problem. First, Venus has a very impressive atmosphere combined with no magnetic field to speak of (and is hit by a far stronger solar wind than Mars is). Second, the Martian escape velocity is scarily low compared to the mean speeds of the relevant gasses at the relevant temperatures, which should cause significant leakage no matter of the strength of the magnetic field. |

Legion 4, I think you and I are on the same brain waves: link link link I like this one too, and wish someone would make cloaked Martians like that one:

It may be a Martian race memory of our very distant past
