I did not know there was a Post Office Strike in Canada, and I was told I would not be able to send a package as the US has placed a BAN on sending packages to them. So here is the deal, I have 200 bucks worth of minis to send to a guy and I cannot. I do not want to relist the item as I did my side correctly, I mean you would assume that you would know a person would know there is no postal service and still order an item from overseas.

Suggestions, ideas, etc…

Like Tim said, the strike should be over in less than a week. Just wait for the strike to be over.

You should be good to go on Thursday, Friday at the latest. link

As per the article, the Government House Leader said that he will delay the summer break so that the government can trample on a legitimate labour dispute despite the Opposition party's attempt to use parliamentary procedure to delay the vote.

"I do not want to relist the item as I did my side correctly,"

Wouldn't that be theft?!

HE paid for the stuff didn't he? Why would relisting even cross your mind?

The ban on shipping to Canada is something the US post office decided not Canada Post. This is the first I've heard of it.

In any case, if I saw something I wanted on eBay I would bid on the assumption it would show up a little later, is all. As far as I can see, HE did nothing wrong.

As noted, FedEx is an option

Although, as well, the Feds are likely to end the strike by legislative fiat very soon

UPS? DHL? Other options – the USPS option will be valid again soon, once the Canadian postal strike is over.

Skeptic20 Jun 2011 6:55 p.m. PST

UPS may not be a very good option for the buyer, given how they charge high "customs brokerage fees" for doing very little…

GreyONE20 Jun 2011 8:52 p.m. PST

Try FedEX Ground. Its about the same price from Canada to the USA as Canada Post, but quicker and with excellent tracking. It may work the same from the USA to Canada. Also, FedEX won't screw your customer over like UPS loves to do (example: they won't charge the usual UPS bogus brokerage fee).

Solution No.2: Wait till the strike is over. My post office, up here in Canada, states that the postal strike will be over by this Friday (fingers crossed).

you would know a person would know there is no postal service

Most of us assume that shippers understand that the interruption is temporary and have a mechanism to hold the shipment until it resumes.

Frankss21 Jun 2011 9:33 a.m. PST

The postal strike started as rotating strike, so one day one city they didn't work then the next they didn't work at another city. So it was no problem to start. Then Canada Post locked the workers out.

I don't understand the couriers as sometimes there is a brokerage fee plus taxes, another time just taxes and another they just drop the parcel off in my garage.
Those brokerage fees are a killer and if hit I usually won't order from that supplier again. There is one courier I will specificly request not to be used.

If he's in Canada, he will know the post office is on strike and wait. The government has already said they will legislate them back to work.

beowulfdahunter22 Jun 2011 11:13 a.m. PST

Yeah, talked to the guy, he is cool with waiting. I just like to get stuff out and sent. Easier that way.

TJSpartan05 Jul 2011 12:29 p.m. PST

Has anyone recieved any parcels at all since Canada Post went back to work? I ordered two models from the U.S. and one from the U.K. back in May. Havent recieved any parcels yet.

Lentulus05 Jul 2011 3:52 p.m. PST

Just straight-up mail (and one magazine) so far. I expect Canada customs is still trying to make coffee.
