These are going to be awesome, I think :

The rogers rangers preview looks very good – there's a link from here -

The only problem is….BUM are notoriously slow in actually releasing stuff

Wow glad the links were not…… well you know.

It is an unfortunate abbreviation in English

I always find after getting some BUM for a while I get a hankering for Red Box.

Really ?

Not been impressed by Red Box's offerings – they're about up to the standard of early Airfix, which doesn't really cut it for me anymore. Although their picts are ok (translates as "I needed some picts and beggars can't be choosers").

Hey 20th. What do you mean Red Box? Bum is a different Company. Or did you mean something else?

Bum is notorious for brittle plastic and extremely expensive sets. If those issues are addressed I'd get some.

Thanks,

John

Err… it went like this :

Sane Max said that when he buys BUM he always finds he then wants some Red Box

I said – "Really ?" in a kinda surprised tone. As red box aren't the best figures (IMO, only IMO but that goes without saying I'd hope). I then went on to qualify that surprise by saying that these : link remind me of these : link in sculpt quality. I then contradicted myself by saying that I have Red Box picts. I then qualified this further by saying that there's not much choice for picts, so what can you do ?

I don't have any BUM (yet !) so can't comment on their plastic quality, but I like the look of the sculpts for the rogers rangers, and the complete range sounds good. But, maybe I should hold off getting BUM until I get to see some of them in the flesh ?

jpattern209 Jun 2011 8:33 a.m. PST

I might well be mistaken, but I do believe Sane Max was double entendre-ing you.

Surely not ? Went right over my head if he was.

Like a giraffe's fart.

I would not have BUM if you gave them to me. Interesting sets but the excessive flash make them impossable to work with.

BUM got murderous reviews from people who would have loved to like the miniatures!

Word is, the 'head' of the company is aiming as the mass *toy* market and simply ignores wargamers.

Historicalgamer09 Jun 2011 1:49 p.m. PST

Smile when you say that, cowboy.

That was indeed a bad review, and not too encouraging for the French & Indian Wars range.

Pity.

PSR are now previewing a lot of BUM. Seems like all the FIW BUM is going to be presented to a salivating public at the same time :

Wow ! That's some good looking BUM. Against all advice above I'm going to be grabbing me a set or two when they come out, these are surely the best BUM sculpts ever. Just hope they've changed the plastic. maybe I should await the full PSR review ?

Or has anyone seen any of this BUM in the flesh yet ?

Pauls Bods09 Aug 2011 12:33 p.m. PST

The horse and cart…that´s an Airfix celt charíot…
The tent..isn´t that from an Atlantic set?
The odd looking "antelope"???
Not bad looking sculpts (the figs) but a lot of repeated indian poses
Cheers

I am looking fwd to several of these, esp the whaleboat rangers.

ochoin deach10 Aug 2011 4:58 a.m. PST

The whaleboat looks to be unique in plastic. Worth getting, I think.
