Hi I was wondering if anyone knew if Peter was collecting WWII German equipment? Could be for a movie or private use. Today I followed a couple of low loader trucks carrying a Panzer Grey Kubelwagen with a large white Stag painted on the right hand doors with WH plates In the other low loader was a SDkfz251/1D in three colour camouflage with 323 (or was it 232?) across the rear. It also had Panzer Lehr marking on the rear RHS. I was so amazed at the genuine look of the 251 I realised I was swerving across the lane so moved on and could not get a really good look at it. It didn't seem much bigger than my station wagon. This is the closest I been to anything this interesting since Bovington years ago. The trucks seemed to be heading for Petone where I've often seen scenery heading which look like movie props hence my assumption about Peter owning them. |

Real vehicles? Or just the latest example of Battlefront's scale creep? Allen |

I work just down the street from one of Jacksons warehouses in Wellington. although I've seen WW1 aircraft and a replica WW1 British Tank there, I've never seen anything circa WW2. |

pffft Battlefront wishes Peter Jackson is an avid collector of all things militaria from aircraft to vehicles to weaponry. The Dambusters project is still plodding along in the area as his his die hard enthusiasm for cool memorabilia. |

Not sure about who owns them but the 251 at least was definitely at Wings Over Wairarapa in Masterton eariler this year and its real – even have some pics showing it. Wouldn't be too surprised if Peter Jackson is the owner as his Mk IV{?} WW1 era tank was parked next to it. He is, I have heard, also behind the currently vibrant WW1 replica warbird collection that are being build up at Hood Aerodrome in Masterton. |

However, it could mean that the filming of The Hobbit has taken an interesting turn! |

He certainly owns an 88mm Flak – one of my mates in NZ was helping with the restoration. |

The 88 would make an interesting twist to Bard's heroics. |
