The main challenge with these is getting all the seam lines off neatly and not missing any. Occasionally I manage it. One day I will use these for wargaming so at tabletop distance they are fine. They are also good face painting practice.

Suggestions on uniform colour and detail improvements warmly welcomed.

Some Germans:

Some Australians. Exceptionally well animated figures IMHO.

A few have painted wristwatches for fun.

Some 8th Army:

My idea was to vary the palette a bit, so that the Afrika Korps are in dusty desert shades of olive, while their adversaries are in dusty desert shades of buff.

I have a Nairfix 1/32 17 pounder in the stash and I'm on the prowl for a 1/32 Crusader to convert into a C41 gun tractor.

Size comparison. All these figures are ostensibly in 1/32, but look at the size of the German rifleman compared to the 8th Army rifleman next to him! It's like they are different scales!

Couldn't find a Japanese rifleman for comparison other than the kneeling guy on the right (he's unfinished).

These are a blast to paint. The highlights pick themselves out.

Nice work 4th Cuirassier!

They take me back to pre-wargaming days, I set mine up at one end of the room, my mate sets his up at the other and we chucked marbles at them until the last man upright had won the battle. Those lying-down machine-gunners were the very devil to 'get'.

I painted some of these for a friend – they are just beautiful sculpts, and a nice change from squinting at tiny detail!

I painted that wonderfully poised & animated Jerry grenadier, with pink epualette piping, as an early war PzG.

Couple of Commandos: thin black paint on the faces, smudged with my thumb while still wet. Worked a treat.

Prone Jap machine-gunner. Did the uniform pea-green.

Did manage to do the US marine M3-gunner with horribly livid green fatigues, though… I wince to recall!

Thanks guys. Mine date from pre-wargaming days too, but all my figures were stolen 15 years ago and these are all I have left from when I was a kid.

So I am pressing them into service for skirmish wargaming and acquiring 1/32 Revell, Airfix and Monogram armour. It is really decadent to wargame with figures of this size and quality!

Shame NOT to, with so much good stuff about on re-issue!

Yorkshire Coast Wargamers do a participation game at shows aimed at getting younger kids to have a go, using 1/32 Airfix & Italeri – it's great fun.

That's some really nice painting!

Have you considered painting any 1/32 scale Airfix British or French Napoleonic figures?

Yikes, is that reed green? It's just Humbrol 78 mushed up with a bit of Vallejo German Field Grey! A guess at the right colour! I just relied on this thread really: TMP link

Nappies, hmm, yes…you can skirmish with those too. So far all I've done is the 54mm kits.

Now gaming with those would be REALLY decadent!
