Nope, but considering it.

Lots of indians in North America that weren't exactly friendly with the new colonists.

North Carolina, and south from there were particular hotbeds of native indian unrest. A fairly large settlement there was attacked, and if I recall correctly, pretty much wiped out by indians back around Blackbeard's time, e.g. around 1716 – 1718, or so.

Frequently, they would either attack on their own, or with encouragement and aid from the other side, e.g. the French and Spanish.

Lots of action in S.C., GA, FL, the Gulf Coast, and other adjacent areas.

Of course, there was frequent unrest amongst the indians throughout much of the rest of North America as well.

Yes we did, in a large pirate game where some islands were inhabited by "hostile" natives.

During my "pirate phase" I did Pirates vs Colonists, Indians, Africans, Arabs, and Chinese at one time or another

Best I could do was Pirates vs VuDu. I set up the Vudu guys in hand to hand so that should they win, they force the defeated to drink down a beaker of the black Vudu fluid (god knows what's in it) and become a mindless, aggressive VuDu themselves, one of the boys. The idea was that successful VuDu enclaves grow and get larger. Stole the forced fluid drinking concept from Indiana Jones flick set in Asia. I would have made him drink TWO beakers just to be sure some chick couldn't slap him out of it. Jones turned down a potentially great VuDu/thugee career.

Yes, as part of my Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay campaign.

Lots of OG 25mm pirates and natives, lizardmen and a dinosaur. Fun times.

I always include natives with pirate gaming.

Early morning writer31 May 2011 9:56 p.m. PST

I'm planning on two different islands of natives at least one of which will be cannibals and at least one of which will have a volcano on the island with a voracious appetite for -- ahem -- virginal lasses, and maybe a few missionaries to add some spice.

Did you hear that, Russ? Was that an opportunity for expansion of your Pirate range? Or, will we get useful figures in the whole Africa set up pending – and perhaps part of why you chimed in here? wink, wink, nod, nod (sorry if I jabbed my elbow too hard in your rib)

Ah? I believed there is a shortage of these?

Shagnasty & I have run several Pirate games, with either 1 large island or several islets on the table, & we always have a band of natives guarding a lost jungle temple filled with treasure. An item of that treasure can be a player's personal goal, while another player must rescue a captured mate from the cookpot.

Aside from Patrice and Wingnut who, by the way did an awesome job, did you other fellas take pictures of your Pirates vs Natives games?

Thanks,

Dan

Don't believe all what the Unicorn Hunters say -they are always lamenting, anyway; old grumbling farts they are.

I don't know how to create photo links, but if you want to Google 'em, pics of 2 of our games can be found in the LSHM Waco site's photo albums under "Pirates Lance's Lair" & on the Millennium 14 site's Millennium 12+1 photos p.4&5.

Does anyone make a running Pirate figure like this, with arms all over the place, but in 15mm?

That bloke on the spit- there's someone eating his foot but frankly -it doesn't look cooked.
Would that be safe?

Part of the "raw food" movement…

You don't like raw meat ? ;-)

Don't ask me, I took part in this wargame but these miniatures were not mine.

One other thing: personaly I prefer the "natives" miniatures to look as South American indians – if the pirates are supposed to be somewhere in the Carribean.

My natives will likely be eating some Hollander's this evening!

FAIRLY recenty, i designed and solo played tested the first part of a PIRATES vs SE WOODLAND INDIAN scenario set o/a 1715, in far south GEORGIA, maybe even SPANISH FLORIDA.

MERRY MAUDE, pirate brig, anchored off the mouth of a small creek. creek too small water to shallow to allow the brig to enter same.

CPT SLAUGHTER and his MERRY MEN go ashore in the boats to raid an unsuspecting INDIAN village further inland.

SLAUGHTER leave's POXIE WILL and 10 thugs inboard to keep the MERRY MAUDE safe, and then leaves MR SMEG and a handful of pirates with the boats to keep them safe while he takes the rest of his lads into the creepy woods to raid the village.

MR SMEG and his lads are bored, tossing dice and drinking rum to pass the time while guarding the boats. i used the DRUNKARD ATTRIBUTE from another set of THW rules to see who got drunk, how drunk they got and etc, while passing the time on the beach with the mosquitos and flies.

LAME DEER and a small hunting party discover the boats and guards. LAME DEER sends two braves hot footing it through the woods to warn the village and decided to attack the boats with the rest of his men. they move carefully and quietly into ambush postions, then spring the ambush on the unwary pirates guarding the boats.

LONG story short, after an ineffective exhange of shooting (wounded 1 pirate and caused him to swim back to the MERRY MAUDE), the braves finally charge the pirates (which causes another pirate to swim for it without letting the INDIANs get to close).

KNOCK down drag out melee follows, all of the pirates left on the beach with the boats are killed, scalped, and looted. three braves are KIA, and three are WIA, leaving only two standing unscathed when the dust settled.

LAME DEER burned the boats, gathered up his wounded, the loot, and headed into the forest in the direction of the village. these hunters do not take part in the fight at the village, but the two sent as runners do.

HAVE not fought out the battle at the village as yet.

POXIE WILL, his men, and the 2 yaller bellies got to watch the smoke from the burning boats from the safety of the MERRY MAUDE.

SKIRMISH was played out on a 3 ft by 3 ft table using MUSKET AND MOHAWKS v2.0 play test rules from TWO HOUR WAR GAMES.

NO photos.
