Hi, I'm trying to model a 10mm hospital scene (for F&F "Greater Casualties" status), and I was wondering if the "H" flag you see flying from tents and ambulances had a specific color. Suggestions for suitable 10mm figures are also welcome! I'm planning on using a tent with various casualty figures and a standing surgeon or two, and possibly an ambulance if I can find a small, suitable wagon. Cheers, Christopher |

Yellow. Later in the war (1864 onwards) US Army regs added a green "H" in the center. |

FWIW, The CS army also used a plain yellow flag to mark field hospitals. The green "H" was added by the federals in 1864, but not all flags were replaced at the same time and it's likely the plain yellow continued in service for awile with some divisional hospitals. Small red flags were carried on a pennant by ambulances in the federal army, and there is anecdotal evidence the same was used by Confederates, at least in the ANV. Thise red flags were also used to mark the location of field dressing stations, and as a place for the ambulances to rally at to pick up wounded. Respects, |

Thanks again! That will help a single generic hospital stand that can be used by either side in the game. |

Interesting you asked, I was just at Chimborazo in Richmond, the CSA hospital that at the time was the largest hospital in the world. Yes, a Yellow Flag flew above hospitals. Nice little museum at the park to visit. Actually went to the museum there last Wednesday with my fiance' then went outside to the public park and GOT MARRIED by a federal judge! Spent the rest of the week in Richmond visiting many battlefields, museums, historical sites and Hollywood Cemetery to find the final resting spot of a great uncle who was killed at Gettysburg on July 2nd.
