This german page shows a lot of dioramas but with flat figures (that personally, I don't like them very much), BUT
the terrain and scenics are superb!. link Click on "Galerien" and then choose one and enjoy. There are new ones if you know previously the page. Hope you enjoy!. Amicalement Armand |

Yesm always been a good site. I love flats myself. The challenge is painting them to look 3 dimensional. |

Thanks for posting that, Armand. I think when it comes to flats, people either like them or they don't. If you love them, you won't fall out of it again, probably because such an infinite variety of subjects are covered. I do fall out of love with painting them though. I work on them for a stretch, get tired of the work required to do credible paint jobs and do something else for a while. But I always come back to flats sooner or later. The good thing is even a big collection of unpainted tin doesn't take up too much space. Steve |

(Interesting.) I like flats because they look more realistic to me than many of the "full rounds" out there. The latter depend upon their manufacturer for their quality. Of course there are stick-figure types in the flats world, but they are mostly late 19th to mid 20th century products. More recently produced flats are simply excellent. As for painting them, well that's another (and very difficult) story. |
