Hi Guys' Having amassed quite a collecton as most of us seem to do what will happen to it when we pass on to the next world. Easy for my wife who thinks I have a screw loose looking at toy figures, she say's she will line them up and march them done to the local scrap yard for recycling when I am gone. so where does all this lead go? link |

If im going to Valhalla then I might as well have a Viking funeral to send me on my way. I guess they'll stash my minis at my head and my enemies minis at my feet

Both of my daughters want my Medievals, my Grandson wants all my WWII stuff, and I'm sure a couple of my friends will offer to purchase all my Napoleonics from my wife. |

what happens is your estate sells them to a jobber who disposes of same on ebay. SUCH AS following for example crimsonpermanentassurance has been established for the sole purpose of selling a large collection of vintage wargames and role-playing games. Most of the collection is fantasy-oriented. There will be some real gems appearing in the coming months. auction If you have a VERY large collection it goes up for auction link |

My wife has asked me what I want done with it as she is convinced my bad habits will lead to an early demise. I pull a Scarlett o'Hara and say I'll think about it tomorrow. Starting to run out of Tomorrows. |

My kids will take them. The three of them are gamers. |

I have already had to do this for three friends. The first one mentioned me specifically in his will to dispose of his games (tabletop minatures and boardgames) and donate the proceeds. The second had no will but it was primarily boardgames, off to ebay again and again the money was donated. The third was a friend that died unexpectedly and his collection was disposed of as a group effort. Most of his collection went to gamers and the money was used to pay for funeral expenses and the rest will be used to fund a party as he would have wanted. Only in the first case was there a will. If you truly care about what happens to your collection then specify in your will how you want it disposed of. This thread has been kind of a light hearted to this point but it will happen and you should be leaving specific instructions on how to get rid of those toy soldiers and games, a number of which could be quite valuable and the funds used to help defray your funeral costs. |

I have 2 sons ( 2 and 4 years) and another child on the way so they will get first dibs if I can raise them as gamers ( the 4 yr old is already showing interest, when my wife said I should read to the bump before he was born I did, the melee chapter from Might of Arms). If not, load the metal minis into a gauss rifle and open up on parliment. Phil |

We recently had this poll. Jason Stafford, VA I thought we had but I can't find it now. It was something like what will happen to your minis when you die and opinions included giving them to your wargaming club, giving them to your kids, or having your wife sell them on flea-bay. Oh well, I'm a bit tipsy (I work nights so it's time to go to bed ) otherwise I'd look harder. |

I've often thought of this scenario as our group has approximately 100,000 25mm figures between us all. There's 13 of us. One of our group asked another to pick an army for themselves, then sell the rest. I guess I'll do the same. |

sharps54, it had a weird title having to do with when you've finished painting all your lead. I don't think another poll is apropos just because of a name change. But, I'm weird like that. TMP link Doug |

All my gaming supplies are listed in my will. My painted minis go to a friend of mine who games but never picked up painting. Unfortunately, he lives across the country; we'll see if he can come up with an efficient way to get them (or he'll, see, I guess). My unpainted minis go to a friend who is . . . not the quickest painter in the world. His wife continually complains about how he never paints his huge pile of unpainted minis – and it amuses me to think about his unpainted pile will increase by an order of magnitude once I'm gone. |

They'll probably be divided among my friends with kids who are now growing up and getting into gaming. Hopefully, by that time, the lids will be old enough to appreciate the figures and not conduct melee by physically bashing them into one another, but if not, I doubt it will bother me very much. :-) |
