Hi everyone,

I recently bought some secondhand 1/144 scale plastic WWII vehicles (Cando and World Tank Museum) from a gentleman here at TMP.

I have been considering repainting these tanks, for the sake of adding some unique camo patterns and decals. However, I need to remove more than the paint.

First, some of the vehicles have sticky glue in places, where I removed some glued-on pieces. Second, some basing material (specifically, traces of Borden tube wall spackle) will need to be removed from the vehicles' tracks, tires, and other lower areas.

The basing material MIGHT come off when soaked in water, especially if it's water-based. But the undried glue presents other problems.

So, how would you proceed? I'm open for any suggestions, since I don't have any experience stripping paint, glue, and basing material from plastic. Thanks in advance for your help!

Jeff

First try soaking them in plain water to see what will come loose. After that, try Simple Green to strip the offending paint and other glue like material.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot.
