I need picture, plan photo of Spanish-American War trenches or any late 19 century trenches (like Boer War trenhes). Russo-Japanese Wars, Balkan Wars, Italo-Turkish War trenches will be good too. Thre these trenches were "made of" earth or there was some wood to support its structure? |

Trenches come in a thousand shapes and sizes. They may range from simply shallow pits with the earth thrown up in front, to the permanent installations of WW1. Any particular trench will unique given how much time the unit has, what materials are available locally, whether there are engineers helping lay them out etc. Your question covers a lot of ground and a lot of time. But I'd guess that most will look pretty similar: chest deep ditch, rampart held up by wood if available, improved path at the bottom. |

Does they use wooden rampart in late 19 century and in years before WW1? |

If they had time wood or logs were used to strengthen trenches. In that regard I'd guess trenches have been the same since the Romans

The longer the trenches are in use the more elaborate they become of course. Seems likely the American trenches would be less developed ( as in the pictures)! Maybe the Spanish/Cuban lines would be more developed, I don't really know about that for certain! |

Thanx for information and pictures. The reason I am asking is that I want to make a trench for 15mm GASLIGHT game and I want it look Victorian (trench for siege of city) |

I think so far you are see US trenches which were quickly built. Spanish trenches had years to be built and developed. Spanish trenches will often be held with the addition of blockhouses. |
