Think Canvas Eagles or Blue Max for WWII. When Trent wrote them he got the endorsement of the author of Blue Max. |

A word from Philip Hall, creator of GDW's Blue Max In 1982 GDW published Blue Max, Dogfights over France. A quick, easy to learn, World War I dogfight game. From that time to this there have been many attempts to upgrade the system to World War II, mostly unsuccessful. Warbirds in Miniature does for World War II air gaming what Blue Max did for World War I air game enthusiasts. Using the basic Blue Max system, Trent Burg has created a clean, accurate rendition of World War II in the air. Everything is here; from dive bombing and strafing, to escort and intercept, in an easy to learn and fun to play system. It is my choice for World War II air gaming, and sure to become yours. Phil |

For full disclosure I am a good friend of Trent's and was heavily involved in playtesting the original version of WBiM. I would boil the biggest differences down as follows. 1. WBiM puts the emphasis on the difference in planes capabilities. CY6 puts the emphasis on Pilot skill. If you like playing with a more generic pilot and having your skill as a player determine the outcome then WBiM is more that game. If you like having pilot differences built in then CY6 is your game. 2. Tailing – With WBiM you are given information by the pilot you are tailing prior to selecting your manuever. You get info like Up/Down, Left/Right, Climb/dive and have to guess where he is going to end up. Makes tailing a little harder than in CY6. In CY6 since you can re-plot after the tailed aircraft moves it makes it much easier to tail someone. Just a couple of high level differences. There are others but these are the big ones to me. |

Well put, I haven't played CY6, but have read reviews and watched the demos, as well as looking at the rules. Our club has house rules variants for tailing similar to CY6, actually they are our Canvas Eagles variants, but work well for WBiM. Look at the charts on the WBiM wesite and check them against the ones on the CY6 downloads. WBiM plays the characteristics of the planes, CY6 seems to generic when it comes to aircraft. |

Wbim does have different pilot ratings as well as different pilot skills. |
