Superglue. Plastic-to-metal is always superglue.

deephorse31 Mar 2011 3:08 p.m. PST

Copydex. Seems to work on just about anything, and can also be removed should you wish to re-base your troops.

UHU for me too

klepley31 Mar 2011 3:21 p.m. PST

I love hot glue.. Easy to use, and easy to take off for changes…..

Bangorstu31 Mar 2011 3:57 p.m. PST

Woodglue – seems to work OK and is cheap.

Waco Joe31 Mar 2011 4:33 p.m. PST

White glue. Basing is the most transient aspect of my modeling. You never know when you need to redo.

Buzzkill31 Mar 2011 5:13 p.m. PST

I use Zap-a-Gap super glue to mount hard plastic Valiant figs to 3/4 in. fender washers.

TheCommandTent31 Mar 2011 5:37 p.m. PST

I use white glue on washers. It makes it very easy to rebase a figure.

Superglue on washers, never pennies.
Weaselhoffen.

eptingmike31 Mar 2011 7:25 p.m. PST

I mount them on washer using Zap-A-Gap super glue and then miliput/green stuff the bases to even them out.

normsmith01 Apr 2011 12:08 a.m. PST

Place the washer on light paper, blob of hot glue in the centre – does two jobs, glues and fills the centre of the washer. The paper backing can be pulled away, leaving a very thin sliver of paper.

woodglue…to stick it too the washer and then a woodglue and sand mix to landscape.
This is how I do it

Araldite Rapid (a two part epoxy). Good strong bond, but not so strong you can't get the figures off the bases again if you need to.

stenicplus01 Apr 2011 3:18 a.m. PST

I second Copydex for glueing any figure to any base. Strong enough to hold figures, flexible, takes paint and flock well but easy enough to pry the figure off the base for rebasing without using a knige and slicing your fingers open!!

Excess on your hands or clothing can be rubbed off quicky and leaves little mess.

No, I don't have shares :-)

Thanks for all the responses so far!

What is UHU?

Pauls Bods thanks for the link, very nice!

Is there a US equivenlent for Copydex?

nebeltex is that regular Gorilla Glue or Gorilla Super Glue, I have read the regular GG expands where the super glue version does not.

UHU is a glue maker in Germany
link
They make a wide range of glues…the "alleskleber" (sticks all glue) is the one meant (I think)
They do a two component glue that when mixed sticks just about anything.
Copydex…in the US ?? Fabri-Tac??

I actually use a cheap brush on varnish. I put a few drops on the penny and then press the figure in until it flows all around the plastic base and the penny surface. I find it holds really well, I don't have to do any precision brushing and it fills in the detail on the penny so if I don't want to texture with sand and only flock, I don't have to worry about seeing maple leaves.

UHU too good and easy to find at least where i am

+1 for Hot Glue: inexpensive, easy to apply, easy to remove (if necessary), 'dries' in seconds. If you lay down a sheet of wax paper underneath, the Hot Glue will fill in the center of the washer, and it will peel off the wax paper easily. I use Hot Glue for mounting all plastic figures, as well as plastic trees to CD's for forest terrain. Works well, versatile, and ridiculously inexpensive. Cheers!

This stuff linkis similar to UH but stronger IMO and much cheaper
Available in Dollar Tree, Big Lots and other bargain stores for a buck a tube. Good for assembling plastic kits too.
