My two games for Historicon are described below: Game: August 1914, In the Ardennes (Part 1) When: Friday – 7pm Host: Jessee Scarborough Rules: Operational Command Decision Scale: 15 mm Period: WW1 Table: 6x12 ft Sponsor: Test of Battle Games Prize: Gift Certificates Description: During the Marne Campaign of 1914, the French 3rd & 4th Armies launched an attack into what they thought was the soft flank of the Germans. This operational level game portrays the resulting clash of Army Corps. This is a prequel for Saturday's tactical game. It is not necessary to play both. Game: August 1914, In the Ardennes (Part 2) When: Saturday – 7pm Host: Jessee Scarborough Rules: Command Decision – Test of Battle Scale: 15 mm Period: WW1 Table: 6x12 ft Players: 6 Duration: 4 hours Sponsor: Test of Battle Games Prize: Gift Certificates Description: During the Marne Campaign of 1914, the French 3rd & 4th Armies launched an attack into what they thought was the soft flank of the Germans. This tactical level game resolves a battle generated from Friday's operational game. It is not necessary to play both. Commentary: In Friday's operational game, sabot bases will represent a battalion. Individual stands on the sabot bases will represent companies, instead of platoons. Individual guns will represent an artillery battallion. Orders will be given at the regimental level. Morale will be checked for the battalion sabot. This is equivalent to bathtubbing at 4:1. I credit John Drye with this idea (his proposed Gazala game sounds like a blast). Saturday's game will be a conventional CD-TOB game based on a situation resulting from Friday's play.

Howdy, Map for the operational game at Historicon '11: picture The stage is set for the clash of the French 17th Corps and the German 18th Corps in the operational CD game on Friday evening at Historicon '11. French: The 17 CA consisted of 33 DI and 34 DI. On 21 August the main body of 17 CA was ordered to move to Ste. Cecile with bridgeheads, if necessary, on the Semoy at Herbeumont and Cugnon. On 22 August 17 CA was to cross the Semoy, with the objectives being Jehonville (34 DI) and Ochamps (33 DI). German: The 18 AC consisted of 21 ID and 25 ID. On 21 August 25 ID moved from Libramont northwest to Libin and on 22 August moved west from Libin, but it got only as far as Maissin and Anloy. On 21 August 21 ID moved behind 25 ID from Longlier-Hamipre to Libramont, and on 22 August the division advance guard moved further NW to Ochamps, where the division swung SW to engage the French.
