I've just finished rebasing my Pre-feudal Scots DBA army. The improved basing makes quite a difference:

Looks good, but what materials did you use for the ground work?

Very nice. I too have to improve my basing so what
materials did you use. I have a horrible time with
grass , can't ever seem to get it right.

Quite an improvement, in that the bases look much more like the photos I've seen of Scotland.
Good job!

They were fine before, but look much better now. Did you repaint any of them along the way, or is that just a visual effect owing to the different light and backdrop?

Thanks. No repainting, but I guess the old photos were under artificial light and the new ones under natural light.

The materials for the ground work are described here:

I've found more 'matt medium' helps make the base spread better (as the 'sand mortar'), though it doesn't have the body to hide the bases once it dries.

That old post is not so informative; what I use is a mixture of Pebeo paints (to get the right brown), their 'Matt Medium' for bulk and their 'sand mortar' for lumps. I then do a 'Burnt Umber' wash over this before adding the flock and rocks. It's pretty quick.

They really look better.

They look great, a good job with both the basing and the painting. The Feudal Castings figures are perfect for this army.

Thanks, I think the Feudal Casting Scots are the best in their range.
