link It is an older range but up until I bought a few samples I hadn't seen them before. Well worth a look IMHO. |

Yes I agree they are an much overlooked SYW range. One of the irritating things about the cavalry is that there are no standard bearers so one would probably have to use Front Rank ones and put them on Elite horses. |

I've always loved Elite's SYW line and have written as well as talked with Peter to expand it but with no luck. What I do for the standard bearer is cut out the sword of one unlucky trooper and replace it with the flag pole. I would love to have him do Austrians & Russians, the two biggest enemies of Frederick. But with this line it seems his focus is more towards the Western Theater battles. All we can do is to just keep putting pressure on him. If he gets enough people asking he may expand that range because it would be worth his time and effort. |

>>Well worth a look IMHO.<< Yes they are, and in the so-called "Old School" style of "Willie" figures. Elite are a little smaller than "Willie". The new 1740-63 line (the name escapes me at the moment) from Big Andy at OG UK is very similar in style to both the above lines. Apologies if this is all old news to you but, then, you must consider the source! |

Many thanks Porkman. A vey informative review and your photos and comparisons shots are incredibly helpful and just perfect for a good examination of the casting. It's a shame the manufacturers don't always oblige us – like the long range shots in some Old Glory pages. I love the Elite Napoleonics and they make the core of my armies but was unsure and had never seen their SYW range – no longer. Thanks again. |

I was planning an Elite regiment to join Les Autres, also their light infantry guns are the best! |

Ah yes Andy told me about that new range but the name escapes me also
Old age – ain't it grand! Glad the shots are useful – eventually I hope to get a decent library of comparisons online – it will certainly help with all the compatibility queries! |

The French march attack pose was added several years ago when several of us asked Peter to make them, promising (and following through) to buy lots of them. |

I very much like these figures too and am a big fan of the march-attack type but there doesn't seem to be a French march-attack grenadier in the Elite range. Incidentally, I think the Prussians marching with their muskets at the slope are even nicer. |

The name of Andy's new range of SAW/SYW figures is Jacdaw. I've used Elite with both these and Willie and they work well together |

French grenadiers often wore the same tricorn hat as the line troops. The only difference would be that grenadiers wore a moustache (easily painted onto the figure) and had grenade emblems on the turnbacks (I think, not sure about this one). So you could use the line infantry figure as a grenadier with some "conversion by paint". |

A couple of other differences as well: the grenadier sword was a sabre rather than the straight sword carried by the fusiliers and the cartridge pouch was bigger too I believe but still not beyond the bounds of conversion. Definately worth doing as these as nice figures. |

Can these be used in North America representing the regular troops there? Mark |

Didn't French grenadiers carry a larger cartridge pouch and a different infantry sabre as well??? There were some differences between French infantry in Europe and in North America. |
