This is 95% complete. I need to complete the ladder to the second story and the stadium seating. The floors are removable and the gate door moves.

It's ready for Gladiators to fight in it. I just need to order some from Bronze Age Minis.

Another nice arena!

That red stain on the walls will come out with a little soap and water and some elbow grease. :)

There must be some kind os arena-fever… ;)
Very nice work!

Cheers.

So this is more of an informal Ludus field rather than the usual arena? Nice job.

Jdonov1402 Mar 2011 6:08 a.m. PST

I think I caught the arena fever too. This one looks very much like the one seen in the Spartacus tv show. Excellent work!!

WarWizard02 Mar 2011 8:45 a.m. PST

Looks great. Is this 28mm scale?

Soldat02 Mar 2011 2:15 p.m. PST

Thanks guys,

This IS based on the old Capua Arena from Spartacus Blood & Sand / Gods of the Arena. I almost forgot. You probably can't see the supporting poles at the VIP area but I will also be adding curtains like in the show. I am also awaiting the Revised Red Sand Blue Skies rules.

@ Nicknacasti I guess it could serve as both.

@ WarWizard yes 28-32mm scale.

This will do until I can get a playmobil for a good sized arena.

Dave Crowell03 Mar 2011 9:53 a.m. PST

I am loving all this inspiration for my forthcoming 15mm arena, practice for the 54mm version….

Spartacus on Netflix definitely stokes my fires for some RSBS action.

Oooh baby this looks goood. Herrodadog tells me your in town, we gotta get some gaming in man!

Soldat04 Mar 2011 1:57 p.m. PST

Veloci,

Definately gotta get some games in. I need to get a few saxons/vikings as well.

Dave, looking forward to seeing your work.

HerrODadog06 Mar 2011 3:13 p.m. PST

I'm with you Dave Crowell – Spartacus (both seasons) got me fired up to finally finish all mine.

Love it! You need to bring that baby on tour to Australia – I'll supply the beer :-)

Hey Soldat,
Curious about info on the old capua arena. Since I doubt yours is for sale (because it looks amazing) I was wondering if you could provide me with measurements, materials needed, supplies needed, steps taken, etc.

I REALLY want one of my own as it is my favorite show
Thanks!

For those in the UK, playmobil UK has 15% off the arena for this month.

As it's over £30.00 GBP it's free shipping too.

The Playmobil one is quite nice and a very good price (especially compared to what gaming companies seem to want to charge for their terrain).

It disassembles easily and is very sturdy and can be detailed with paint/accessories with no problem. It's a very good size so it can also be used with chariots and mounted and still allow a lot of manoeuvring area.

Smallsoldier,

I'll take some measurements for you. I based it on what I could see in Spartacus "Gods of the Arena" It was an estimation on what looked right on the scale of 28mm Gladiators. I've finally finished a bunch of older gladiators and have the em4 Ludus Gladiatorus for rules.

smallsoldier10 Jun 2019 3:56 p.m. PST

Thanks for the reply soldat. Looking forward to any measurements/materials/tips you can provide. Hopefully I can make an old capua arena for my collection as well!
