It's time to set the over/under line on the revolutions to come in 2011. I predict 2011 will be the new 1848. As opposed to 1848, there are many more nations in your geography book. No more Empires that have 12 "nations" within, for one thing. I am setting the over/under line at [GREAT FANFARE GREAT FANFARE]
10. By December 31, 2011. We have already had the "legitiamte" governments of Tunisia and Egypt overthrown. By the time you get back from work and read this, Libya may be included. Do you bet the over or the under? |

I bet over, most of the middle east and southern Europe, along with most of Africa. |
| jpattern2 | 22 Feb 2011 8:30 a.m. PST |
I'm going to bet over, too. |
| Sloppypainter | 22 Feb 2011 8:36 a.m. PST |
Over. Kinda feels creepy just betting on something like this
|
| jpattern2 | 22 Feb 2011 8:40 a.m. PST |
Well, I'm hoping for most of them to be (relatively) peaceful. I'm hoping that Libya is the exception. |

Was I a Cold Warrior from a certain generation, I'd be busy pointing out how the Domino Theory seemed to be working as theorized
but not quite the way the Soviets nor the West thought it would. I might have to look up Irregular's Riot figures and rules to do some '11 Revolution gaming. |

In Italy to this day they call a major foul-up "a real 48". Will Arabs in the future call it "a real 11"? |

If you really want to get interesting
How many of these new governments will at least be neutral to the west? |
| CPBelt | 22 Feb 2011 10:09 a.m. PST |
This is going to end so badly for us. I go over. |
| jdpintex | 22 Feb 2011 10:11 a.m. PST |
I'll going to bet the Under Line. Though I think it will probably be close. |

How many of these new governments will at least be neutral to the west? No, too Blue Fezzy for me. |

Not if they use the hejira calendar, it will be a 32. Staying Gregorian, however, it seems to me that they could already describe a major foul-up as a '48, a '56 or a '67. All the best, John. |

Under for me although I wish it was going to be the over

Under; there won't be many feelin' good towards the US, as we've backed oppression in favor of stability. |
| SgtPain | 22 Feb 2011 3:38 p.m. PST |
Under, just barely 7 or 8 is my guess. |

I just hope Ford hurries up and gets that plug in hybrid out real quick. I can make it to work and back on the charge. |

I have a nasty feeling it will be under. It really IS a Domino Theory – people get the nerve to rise up inspired by others actions, like happened with our Victory in the Cold War. if Libya keeps going the way it is, it will provide a strong reason for a lot of protestors to stay home. Once one of these hits the buffers I fear the whole process will stop. We think Libya is getting nasty – can you IMAGINE what Syria would be like? I shudder to think. Pat |

Under. I'll be surprised by more than 5.
No more Empires that have 12 "nations" within, for one thing. The U.S. does, though our government is not "imperial" in form. Way more than 12, really – just count the casinos. -Kle. |

there won't be many feelin' good towards the US, as we've backed oppression in favor of stability. Well, Egypt will be since the Army is now in charge and they might as well be Americans. None of the others so far were enormously friendly before, I doubt they will shoot themselves in the foot by becoming enormously unfriendly. -Kle. |

Under. I bet every country that feels even remotely threatened by this has already begun taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen to them. |

Wow, if discussing how much the revolutionary fever will prevail throughout the world is beyond discussion, then what exactly do you talk about with your intelligent and worldly friends? Charlie Sheen and Lindsey Lohan? |

we're going to hijack Al-Jazeera and loop the Charlie Sheen interview nonstop for 40 days and 40 nights. Then we're going to do the same with Entertainment Tonight's coverage of Lindsay's antics for the last 5 years. They will beg us piteously for terms by the 81st day. That's when we wheel out the Pee Wee Herman tapes
