During the 6 day war, what color were the Ouragans? Silver or camo?

Hmmm, not 100% sure.

I have seen some in a beige-ish sand, with a dark blue camo. scheme.

Since I don't think too many served in the 1973 War, that would be one possibility.

A lot of their jets were still in natural metal too, e.g. their Mirage III's.

The following sites show them both ways in 1956.

I know you shouldn't assume, but I would assume that they would have been pretty much the same in '67. The Ouragans were relegated to training after the '56 war, but returned to combat in '67. Several were sold in '75 – at least according to Wikipedia as a quick reference.

The Israelis also sometimes use bare metal or gray for air superiority, and camo. for ground attack, so that might help you in your selection of a scheme as well.

As a more modern case in point, their Neshers have been done in both schemes (overall gray for air superiority, presumably; and a sand, brown, and green scheme for ground attack sorties, and it is a 1970's jet).

I collected a bunch of info from various sites which seemed to say that the Ouragans were bare metal during the Suez Crisis but, as several others have pointed out, there seem to be examples of other schemes. I did mine in a bare metal finish as this seems to be a common theme in IAF fighter colors and then found this site which shows them in camo.

Any suggestion for what paint to use for the dark blue?

FightsOn26 Feb 2011 5:18 p.m. PST

Windward,

During the 6-Day War, the Ouragans had a Blue and Brown camouflage scheme on upper surfaces, and Light Gray bottom facing surfaces. There are no exact FS codes for the Blue and Brown camouflage, but RAL 5008 Blue, FS 30215 Brown, and RAL 7044 Grey are good proxies.

I ended up using Dark Blue Gray, and Brown Sand, with a Silver Gray underside. They look great, thank you all for your suggestions.

OK here is my results, I tried to paint up the 107th Lion's Head squadron with the lion mouth, at 1/600th scale its kind of hit or miss. But I'm pleased:
