Hello, I would very much like to start a collection of 54mm toy soldiers for my son, Victorian style, grenadier guards and infantry with spiked helmets etc. I would like to cast them using prince august moulds and wondered if there were metal toy soldier artillery pieces available, with crews. Maybe guns that fire matches if possible. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks in advance Chris |

Chris, I recently picked up 2 Crescent WW1 18pdr QF guns, made in the '70s, which fit the bill to perfection. I'm going to hand them over to a couple of RHA gun teams from Dorset Soldiers, who can stand around them and try to look useful while I'm blasting matchsticks at the Blue Army. |

Chris I bought a number of Britains guns on ebay over a few months – you can get them for as little as £2-£3 each in prefect working order – the 4.7 Naval guns are slightly more expensive but massiveley so. I have started producing a small range of 54mm Victorian castings and have some artillery crew – with some more variants coming out in the next couple of weeks. see my blog: mikelewis.info/littlewars for some details and pictures of the guns cheers Mike |

Chris, If actual firing is not a necessity, the Colonial Artillery produced by Armies in Plastic is very nice - armiesinplastic.com |

Until I built up a battery of real Britains artillery pieces for Little Wars games, I use a plastic spring loaded Lego cannon to do the shooting. Used some metal non-shooting cannons on the table, and just replaced them for the actual shooting action. |

Thanks for the quick response everyone, It's a shame that there doesnt seem to be anyone out there that makes traditional, old style artillery that fire match sticks etc anymore. I have seen britains naval guns on ebay going from anything like £20.00 GBP to £40.00 GBP Thanks again Chris |
