Which is the better deal, I'm guessing Old glory, but are there other manufacturers that sell them cheaper? |

No, Old Glory IMHO is the way to go!! Mike Adams |

The OG guys look good; at least the ones that come with the longboat. The 40% Army Membership would be hard to beat. Dean |

The Old Glory Vikings I have – from the earlier range – are good figures. I've been told that the 'Somerled' range are even better. The Foundry figures are fine, but not exactly a bargain. |

Which country are you in? In the USA Old Glory are pretty much unbeatable on price, but in Europe they're not so stand-out. The excellent Gripping Beast plastics are well worth a look I'd have thought. |

There are many variables including postage, discounts etc. If cost is a factor I recommend gripping beast's plastic figures, no compromise on finish, best plastics going around at the moment. |

Caliver books postage free worldwide, get a box of conquest games plastic Norman cav. to get over postage free threshold. So cheap you can do both sides. |

I'm looking for viking archers as well, and it appears the only range with them is Wargames Foundry. |

Found some on the crusader range! |

You can get crusader from Old Glory as well so if you are thinking about doing a whole army you might want to seriously consider the army card. $50 USD will get you a pretty good return quickly. |

BTD do Viking archers if you want armoured archers. I was looking for some not long ago (haven't ordered yet though) and this was advice I received from this august forum; TMP link |

The first release Old Glory Vikings are amazing. A friend has them and if I were doing Vikings that's what I'd get. If the Sommerled ones are even better, then wow. |

OG has viking archers as well. Both viking ranges in OG are excellent |

Another Old Glory recommendation. The Foundry figures are not as good for armies, IMHO. Besides their cost. BO |

I have a fair number of BTD vikings I'm in the process of dusting off and touching up paint on. How do they compare size wise to the OG and Gripping Beast plastics? In case I need to beef up the size of the army |

Thanks for the advice everyone! I bought some vikings and some saxons from Caliver Books, the crusader range. |

Purely economic go for the Gripping Beast plastic Vikings. If yu want to go for quality then by all means consider the Gripping Beast Vikings and Jomsvikings. You won't find any better. link

Found this thread on Vikings and went to Old Glory. I found two listings for Vikings. One has ID SVS and the other has DA. Can anybody tell the difference between the two, if there is any. |
Henry Martini | 28 Aug 2014 9:18 p.m. PST |
DA is the original range released in in the nineties, covering the later Dark Ages; specifically the Hastings period. SVS is the Somerled range referred to above, for the ninth century. The earlier figures aren't as well proportioned, having larger heads relative to their bodies. |
