I'm running a naval game in the next month or so and would like to use some of the shell splashes produced by Clydeside Models.

I have no idea how to paint these though, so any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

A Chara,
How about sea blue/green with with white on top !

Shell splashes I've seen pictures of look mostly white, especially if collapsing. Maybe paint them the same color as your playing surface, but then heavily dry-brush with white? Final color should probably be mostly white when done; see the Mers el Kebir video:

Very light blue with white highlights, unless you are doing the colored shell splashes used by the French and Japanese.

I use dark blue then paint lots of white on top:

Note two sizes of Clydeside shell splashes present in the picture.

Very nice! 12" and 6" shell splashes?

Here are some shell splashes I made last year. Full instructions, including the paints I used, are in the blog post.

I've also got some smaller ones in production but the method is the same.
