Not sure if they wore uniforms per se, and if there were even officially marines back then, but believe so, based upon previous inquiries.

So, I'd like to know if anyone has any info on Spanish Marine and Naval troop uniforms for the Caribbean, from 1700 – 1720, or so. I seem to recall white pants and coats, and/or buff-colored coats too. Possibly some blue mixed in too, e.g. cuffs, etc.

Specifically, I'm interested in forces in and around Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Bahamas, other Caribbean isles, Florida, SE USA, Gulf of Mexico, and adjacent islands and land areas.

I'm also interested in uniform info for regular land troops, and militia, etc. in the region as well, during the same period. Force strengths would help as well, if there is any good info.

Finally, any info on skirmishes, raids, land and naval battles, etc. in the region would be of interest as well.

I'm especially interested in the naval side of things, and in raids they conducted on others in the region, e.g. attacking the Bahamas, info on Spanish Privateers and the Guarda Costa, etc. Any info on forces available, numbers and types of vessels in the area, etc. would be very useful, in addition to types of raids, locations, dates, and historical accounts.

Not sure if there is any info written in English on the subject. The bit of searching I have done in the past hasn't been very successful.

This is bad threadromancy, I know, and there are many threads on the topic. However, but this might be of use if one does lots of scrolling:

It becomes useful from 02 April 2009.

Can anyone identify the rank of the chap on the left of the second picture for the entry of 24 October 2009?

Likewise, the rank of the guy with the gold strip on the blue of his sleeve in the entry dated 19 April 2009?

This stuff was from a list I compiled a while back. I hope you find most of it useful.

Dan, I do find it most useful. I could kiss you. That first large plate on that second page is enough to do almost a whole army. I must find and buy that book.
