Follow-up from my post here;

I didn't have as much time to work on it till yesterday.

It was based on a CD… It almost fits perfectly just the slightest overhang of the edges.

I added shingles and matchsticks for the beams. I had to build a door as the printed on one is closer in scale to 15mm. I toyed with using my plastic morhheim bits to add windows but in the end decided to keep what was there.

I have a couple of questions that perhaps someone can help me with. I want to add a cobblestone to the bottom of the tower but just cannot work out a easy way to do it.

Also how would you do the corners of the main house? Make the stone, more timbers, or just fill and paint?

Speaking of fill between the timbers should I build it up with a bit of spackle to texture? How far out would the beams jut?

Any other suggestions are welcome!

Look for the "Cobblestone Road" in the Christmas village stuff at Michael's. It's about 3' of a 3-4" wide vinyl ribbon with a molded cobblestone pattern (I'm guessing on dimensions). You could cut it into sections, following the line of the "stones" and glue it to the side of the building, then paint. Caveat: It's vinyl, so you'll need to prime it with something other than spray paint.

I like what you've done so far! (I only wish the things were suitable for 10mm.)

just so you know
to be true to history you would never see the timbers, that was something that showed up in the 1800's because people did not all ways have the money to replace all the siding/clay when it needed it, the right way and now it has become a style thing.

not covering the timbers lets a timber framed wall leak air and water.

1" to flush with the wall filling if you want to show the timbers.

Looks great with the conversions. Makes the scale much more true to size for 28mm.

Even though the doors and windows were more in scale for 15mm I felt like the houses were scaled for 28mm.

I will have to look around for some of that cobblestone road might just be what I needed!

I was off on my dimensions. Make that road 3.5" wide by 30" long.

You could use air hardening clay to make small "stones" and stick them to the base of the tower. Long time ago I made a small cottage using that method to make a chimney.

Looks good, Xin

Certain split lentils make for fab cobblestones.

$1 USD for a blank to build on, stupid Atlantic or i would be all over them……

For stones, bricks, etc, check out this fellow from Canada. He some nice resizable sheets of stone, brick, slate, shingle, etc. Good price, too.

Check out his online store for the other items.
