Some of these plastic supports for rebar would make excellent pieces for creating sci-fi terrain pieces.
Has anyone given these a try?

Never seen them before, but I could easily picture them as towers, buildings, etc.

All of these look very cool. I'm always looking for new bits and pieces for scenery. I work in video production and I shoot in a lot of factories. There are lots of packaging items out there for scenery possibilities. I will keep a look out for these.

Yep…don't have pics but they make great supports for water tanks…fusion units…guard towers…etc.

Where do you get them?

Eclectic Wave29 Dec 2010 9:14 a.m. PST

You get them from construction sites. There are a hugh number of throw away pieces from constuction sites that can be used in so many different ways. Unfortunetly its pretty hard to get onto constructions sites with out knowing someone. Too many thefts these days.

Ugh, I did heavy construction work years ago to make money for college. That including laying down rebar for concrete slabs in 100+ degree weather. We used chairs that looked like the one on the bottom left of your photo. Not a fun memory.

On topic, yeah, some of those would work as supports for a monorail system.

Thanks James.

Wow, sweet! I may need to look into some of those.

And nice work, Guiscard! Very inspirational!

Home Depot and Lowes normally have them.

Yes, I have a few from working in construction.

Planning on making some modular oil/mineral extraction facilities form them for 6mm gaming.
