I have just started into 15mm Sci Fi gaming and have come across the old Mech Warrior Collectible stuff and I have some questions .. If anyone out there can help 8)

1. Where are some good places to start hunting this stuff out?
2. How many series are there (Dark Age etc)
3. Is there a web site where I can see a full list of each set complete so I know whats available ?
4. I know its slightly smaller than 15mm but by how much.

Basically I used to play the old BT and I went off into more Table top stuff like Warhammer .. as I have spread my wings away from the comfort of GW's its all there for you I have been looking into a new venture.. the old BT I see is alive and well but it would seem there is a growing number of fanatics out there who are painting up these prepainteds and using them for tabletop gaming 8)
anyways any advise help or info would be appreciated 8)
Cheers

You can find alot on Ebay of course. That's where I get mine when I'm in the mood for them. The Mechwarrior stuff is more like 10mm than 15mm. Although some of the mechs can be used as 15mm walkers. Some of the bigger vehicles and powered armor troops can be used for 15mm also but that's about it. Most of the troops and vehicles are too small for 15mm. Unless of course you are fighting a race of smaller people.

Thanks for that .. any one know of Brick and Mortar shops in Brisbane QLD Australia and where I might find a complete list of sets and forces 8) ?

1) Troll and Toad, Strike Zone and Ebay.

2) 14

3) Warrenborn.com has all the rules and info you'd ever need. As well as complete illustrated lists by set, they have a database for units that is searchable by type, name, release, series, etc…

4) As for scale, I feel that most of the heavy and Assault mechs would be great for 15mm, and even some of the smaller mechs. With a few exeptions, the vehicles and infantry are too small. They are definitely 10mm or 11mm in scale.

However, they are so plentiful and cheap, that my buddy and I have largely skipped 15mm for now and haves acquired a mass of MWDA stuff for use in Mech Attack (a really fun game) Future War Commander, and possibly others.

The mechs will work with 15mm minis, but as said the vehicles are by and large too small. I've also managed to get MechWarrior stuff at wargame shows/conventions too. Happy hunting.

Might be able to fit Heavy Gear and MechWarrior DA together…similar sizes. Basically anything in the 10-12mm ranges will accessorize nicely to fill in blanks till you find what you want.

Technically that's true, but Heavy gear mechs tend to be much smaller than Mechwarrior stuff. On the other hand, The larger N scale CAV mechs are compatible, but each mech is quite alot of metal and as such they're quite expensive (20 bucks or so) compared to the MW stuff.

While they work with Mechwarrior, the CAV mechs in general don't tend to be a good match for 15mm.

The 'Battle Armor' suits can play 15mm guys in form fitting armor, right? I mean, they are way bigger than unarmored troops.

I keep hearing the MW can be expensive and hard-to-find outside the US, which weirds me out a bit as I see boxes in US stores 25-50% off.

Someone is not doing their proper black market duties!

I would have to say no to armored MW troopers as 15mm's. There might be a couple exceptions where some of the larger, single-based, exo-frame size power armored troops could be used as 15mm, but nearly all the PA troops I have are absolutely dwarfed by unarmored 15mm troopers. Sorry.

The only ones I think would work in 15mm is the Kanazuchi Battle Armor, Shook Troopers, and the Fenrir Battle Armors. The rest would be to small
