Apparently if a board receives less than 10 new topics a month it is a candidate for deletion. The Napoleonic Naval Painting Guides Message Board had 7 in October, 6 in November and so far only 2 in December. Should it be removed? |

No. It is a Board that has a small enough topic count that one can ctually scan it for useful information. It is actually a USEFUL Board! |

The board is one of the few Napoleonic boards I use. But, IF we have a set of rules for which boards get added and which get deleted I would have to say go with the rules. |

I do 1:1200 Langtons. I had no idea there was such a stupid board was here. Unbelievable. Any paint guide board needs to go. For those who vote no, if they are seriously voting no, I ask them if they actually ever go into boards beyond the front page. Yes. -- Tim |
John the OFM | 21 Dec 2010 10:27 a.m. PST |
"if a board receives less than 10 new topics a month ", then poissibly all that needs to be said about it has been said. That makes it very concise, and has no need to delete or improve on it! I sometimes go into Boards for threads that have dropped off the front page from Age related issues. That way I can catch up on the mud slinging on the HMGS threads, and see what I have missed. |

What's the harm in letting it remain? I'm sure that some of the older posts are a great resource. |

Well, by the rule mentioned, Yes. I went through the statistics and I would lose 8 boards if the forum statistics were the standard: Biplanes, ouch! Superhero, Double Ouch!! WWII Aviation Battle Reports, minor loss for me WWII Aviation Gallery, minor loss for me WWII aviation Battle Reports, minor loss for me Modern Aviation Painting Guides, minor loss for me Biplanes Painting Guides, moderate loss for me and WWII Aviation Scenarios, minor loss for me. From my viewpoint the rule would be inconvenient but I could live with most of the results. I would want the cut off number determined by a 3 to 6 month average. I find the bigger problem the ever "more niche" boards being created. YMMV and probably should. Gracias, Glenn |

one other thing I have is home made Napoleonic ships, but haven't found my rules since I moved into my house (18 years ago) but I know there around somewhere. If I do find them someday I will need to clean up by ships to play. But if the space in the computer is really needed for something else well then, |

Keep it. If we want to get rid of excess boards, some of those in the General category should go. MH |

I don't have a dog in this fight, I am a pulp gamer. But those little full rigged ships are very beautiful. Keep the backlog, and keep the board because somebody is always coming up with a new way to do things, and historical archaeology may tell us something new about the ships. Keep it. |

..what? Somebody used ships during the Wellingtonian wars? Yes, they used unterseeboots, also known as Wellington boots. |

I would like to see it kept, I don't come here very often, but there is often good stuff. There also does not seem to be the slanging matches some of the other boards attract, "Bricoles" anyone? I would however like to see folk post in the correct board, the stuff on the Russian Hussars is very interesting, as are the Light infantry and Cavalry posts, but perhaps they would be better elsewhere? I know it is difficult to post/cross post correctly, especially if you write the draft of a post elsewhere then cut and paste, and it is all part of the fun of a message board, thinking how on earth Orks and Ratmen might end up with the Russian Navy. If it has to go, and I can see both sides of the argument, then a Napoleonic Painting guide for all painting guides must replace them all, which may be too much faff for the editor to bother with. rabbit |

How about a Napoleonic Naval Gazing board? We could put all the bricole threads on there. And anything about Bavarian Cornflower blue. |
Grizzlymc | 17 Feb 2012 12:55 p.m. PST |
SUPERCILIUS – cornflower blue? CORNFLOWER BLUE! MY GOD! Have you no decency, have you no chromatic respect? Do you not know how to use a Maunsell colour chart, does the RGB number not trip off the tongue, along with the CYMK and BHI Nos? This is a uniform colour we are using, not some recipe for Granma's cookies. What Vallejo/Humbrol/Vanilla made in China craft colour can I use for my Bavarians? |

Exactly. The information is there, and handy. I would be like tearing out the pages of the 1911 Encyclopedia Brittanica that you have not read in 10 years. Not read "Bulgaria" or "Marmalade" lately? Rip them out! |

If you're going to get rid of anything from the Napoleonic Boards – appart from the aptly named Idiot Tendency – scrap the "Empire" Board. Even if it is more entertaining now that we're getting postings about GW's "Empire" range. :-) |
