2,3 Most definitely! if nothing else how about a breifing that covers Guadalcanal August-November '42. That would be great. As for some of the others, 11-14, i think that would almost take a whole another game series, though could be based on their game mechanics, but would have little if any crossover. Still would be interesting. |

15 Spanish Civil War Plus 5 6 7 2 Knowing the cynical capitalist money-grubbing way Battlefront does things, Guadalcamnal will be 5 books at $30 USD each, with a $75 USD compendium 2 years later. |

2-4, 9, 11, 13
I think any of these would do. Any thoughts to early or late WW I ? |
LHMGKodiak | 25 Nov 2010 8:36 a.m. PST |
Late WWI or Mid-East WWI would be interesting as would Spanish Civil War. How about the Chaco War in S America? |

Two years, John? No way. They can get it down to less than a year after the release of the last Guadalcanal supplement by simply repointing some things (slashing the cost of AMTRAK flamethrower companies, for example)--and by leaving out several popular lists. Allen |

2-4+15. I am itchy for some Pacific action in the easy-to-use FoW format, and interested in the SCW all on its own. |

So, Carlson's Raiders and the Special Naval Landing Force will be "inadvertanlty" left out? Will Chesty Puller have super powers, but only as a PDF or in the Compendium? Will Manilla John be a Warrior with a ROF of 6 and a save of 2+, but only in the Guadalcanal Compendium? Have to sell those M2 tank models! I am expecting the role of the 28th Infantry Division in the Bulge to span at least 4 books. Look at how many Osprey OOB books on the Bulge there were! I am speaking as someone who loves the game, and will gullibly and cynically buy all the supplements/codices/intelligence briefings that I will "need". |

If you strive for completion, there is a huge gap of WEEKS! between Cobra and Battle of the Bulge for Americans in NW Europs. This would include the Lorraine Campaign, Aachen, Hurtgen Forest, etc. Cobra only includes armored divisions, and Omaha has infantry divisions suitable for Normandy. Rather than refer to the almost universally ignored Fortress Europe, I would like to see a Flames of War reference for the American army that covers very good (FV), average (CV or CT) and poor (CC or worse) divisions. Maybe BoB will let us extrapolate backwards, maybe not. Do the same for the British and Canadians, Free French and Poles. There should be enough of the quirky little differences that sell $25-$30 books to make everyone happy. |

I'll reiterate the WWI 1914, WWI 1918 and WWI Mid-East options. And I would vote for 5, 13 and 16 on the current list. |

So Basically we have everything from WWI to today. Sounds like FOW could handle all the ground and will be around for a long time. Anyone think of anything else to add? |

Vichy French seems to be an obvious omission. Not sure Early Finns differ that much from MW Finns. Simply remove all the Russian gear. |
LHMGKodiak | 26 Nov 2010 8:19 a.m. PST |
I think 21) could be under either 17) for the mainland stuff and 5) for Crete and the like. As for Vichy French that would be under 5) also I would think. Has anyone built an early war French army yet?? |
John the OFM | 26 Nov 2010 9:29 a.m. PST |
May I RE-SUGGEST Yanks from Normandy to Battle of the Bulge? The current infantry lists are very tied in to storming the beaches, and Cobra is tied to two specific divisions. There was some very interesting American stuff taking place at the exact same time as Market Garden (Lorraine, Arracourt) that are not accounted for. Yes, I KNOW I can try Fortress Europe, but that is too generic, and cuts off too soon. |
LHMGKodiak | 26 Nov 2010 12:01 p.m. PST |
Yes but isnt that what Bulge would cover, in effect everything that happened across France up until that point? Then the Fall of Germany would cover everything from there to the end. |
John the OFM | 26 Nov 2010 7:49 p.m. PST |
The Bulge books will be here in the Spring. So "they" say. However, past experience reminds me of a Flashman quote. "Took a longer time arriving than an elderly Irish peer with the gout." Seriously, I can see the FoW Bulge series of 7 or 8 Bulge paperbacks at $30 USD each (inflation
) totally ignoring things like ordinary infantry divisions in favor of the glamor boys, the 101st and maybe Teams Cherry and Team Desobry. I fear that the ordinary heroic depleted 28th Infantry will be ignored. Well, I am rambling here
Ideally, all phases should be covered. That is what I am interested in. Just remember that you proposeth, but Bill disposeth. I was dragged kicking and screaming into FoW. I said I wanted no part of the club project (15mm WW2 gaming) unless North Africa or the Batttle of the Bulge were up front. I should have checked it out before I opened my mouth. |

Hopefully they will pack a bunch of stuff into it even if they only do a couple of books. But I hope they do include some of everything and not just the special units exclusively. I hope they add the M-36 and the Calliope too, at the least. |

I dont play FoW, but if I did: 14) Fall of the Soviet Union (1989 to now) 12) Current Modern 11) Mid 80's (Nato/Warsaw Pact) World War I Franco-Prussian War |
LHMGKodiak | 28 Nov 2010 9:20 a.m. PST |
I think FOW could be adapted to modern warfare quite nicely. I hope they think about it. After all they have done Vietnam. |
