My copy of WAB El Cid has been sitting on the shelf for the last 6 years or so after only a cursory read after purchase. I was wondering if anyone is still playing and does the book offer a balance and interesting game? |

You asked this yesterday: TMP link and I suspect the answers will still be the same. |

Erm, seems to be pretty popular at the moment, I know of European and US gamers playing it. Also still popular in the UK, see this link to a 16-player campaign: link |

Played it during a our WAB event at Origins in June
From what I understand WAB 2.0 does not rule out the use of this book? |

And, he'll ask it again tomorrow, until he gets the answer he wants. |

To be fair, yesterday's thread was hijacked into a discussion of Impetus basing. |

What are your feelings on Impetus basing? |

Great book. Great set of rules. My son plays the Almoravid Berbers, who are nasty. WAB 2.0 won't rule out the book but it alters the light cavalry. Ralph |

I play all the time. The book offers a balanced and interesting game. |

WAB books are good source material even if you don't play WAB. If you like WAB, you will probably like playing El Cid. HaT even has a decent range of figures in 1/72 scale so you could buy both armies for less than the cost of buying 1 metal army. |

As a matter of fact a friend and myself are starting this up.It's a great supplement offering very flexible lists.Collecting for the period is also quite nice in that the cultures mix and matched quite a bit and so the same army could one day be Christian and the next Moors. On WAB boards it's very popular at the moment. Christopher |

WAB is pretty much dead or dying around here, thanks to the 2.0 fiasco. But the WAB books are really useful resources for other sets of rules. |

I plan on using it to plan my Hail Ceasar army. |

I have been using it as a painting guide. I am a slow painter so only have a dozen Berbers painted up and seven Spanish knights. |

We play Hail Caesar now for our ancients games. I have my Spanish army finished and plan to get my Moors done by years end. Anyone in the Delaware, southern New Jersey, Philly area that wants to game Hail Caesar or Black Powder get back to me. We have an active group of 10-12 gamers. |

Hey Flashman2, I'm in Phila and would be interested. How do I get ahold of you? I'm working on Christian/Norman/Crusaders for WAB/HC and have an EIR Roman army completed (typical). I'm familiar with HC and have but have not played BP. Let me know. Thanks! |
