Hi there,

after several specific requests, Shuffler is approaching step by step the Hexagon Grid feature.

Just for now there are some HexGrids available as png images to load with User Image Plug-In for Shuffler. Grids are presented in different colors and a couple of line styles: continuous or dash lines.

A new piece of code is already under construction so to have a complete and inline HexGrid generator, where users will be able to change the thickness, the color and the size of the grid just while composing the map.

Any comments are welcome!

Free Demo of Shuffler is available here: link

Currently, I use Shuffler to build maps with a square or no grid. However, it would be nice to be able to build maps with hexagons.

Yes, while for indoor or streets square grids are mostly used, for plain outdoor or for large maps hex grids are used as well.

Coming Extra Sets will help to create those maps.

Hi Claudio,

Will there eventually be support for space/star maps for SciFi campaigns??? I wanted to show hyperspace routes between star systems. Then sprinkle nebula and dust clouds around for "terrain".

thanks,
David

Yes David,
there will be.

Fixed Hex grid has already been implemented. Now I need to add code to allow users to modify freely the grid.

Then, it's only a matter to add background for universe items. For example galaxies and stars with blurred light halo. Adding a good number of those elements with different sizes could reach a first good looking map.

Any suggestion is appreciated: examples, links, explicit requests.

Nice to see this is growing.

I hope you will move out into the countryside one day grin and maybe add a little fantasy…

Keep up the great work

Yeah! Extra Set additional code was meant just for that: instead of making Shuffler Horror, Shuffler Fantasy, Shuffler Ancient, etc., where images cannot be mixed each other, I decided to try the way to release Extra Sets for a lower price, where items can be mixed, combining the genres.

It is only a time matter now.

By the way, I'm looking for collaborators for designing all of those items… :)

News: Hexagon Grid System has been built in Shuffler 2.8.0 Beta. Hex Grid can be modified freely: size, ratio, thickness, color, transparency, offset, rotation. Hex Grid freedom exactly as you like.

You can download and test here:

I'd appreciate any comments on this System and any more needs to fully enjoy this Tool.

Claudio,

I've tried the demo last month, and liked it so much I bought the full version. Since I mostly play SciFi and post-apocalyptic games, battle maps, outdoor maps and space maps are most wanted on my list.

Is there a way to show the exterior of city buildings (top-down view) along with the streets? Then another maps can show the interiors?

For post-apocalyptic games, it would be nice to damage objects for that beat up, dirty look. Is it possible for age/damage the new car set you just released???

Thanks,
David

David, first of all thank you for your interest in Shuffler.

1) For exterior buildings you could just design terraces, using gres floor and adding things to fulfill it like pipes, tanks, etc. With User Images Plug-In you could instead add your own images like slates. In a next release it will be added surely. Maps with interiors can be already done as you know.

2) Damaged cars require a dedicated next Set: it is not only a texture matter, but a real crashed body model with all glasses broken. I'll add also cars with upside down or on its side to simulate barricades. there will be also some single tires just to add environment. Here a brief list I imagine:

- some damaged cars from a couple points of view;
- tires (without wheel);
- dark smoke;
- screeches of tires;
- single pieces of cars like: doors, engines, silencers, seats;
- maybe others;

Comments?

Claudio,

Your proposed list of Shuffler additions sounds like just what I need. Thank you for being so responsive!
