I think Norman D Landings is hard to beat. |

pornicopious (sic). I think that is how he spells his name.
|
Captain Apathy | 27 Sep 2010 11:48 a.m. PST |
I like mine
not that anyone really cares. |
adub74 | 27 Sep 2010 12:08 p.m. PST |
I always liked Canard Sage. |
Colonel Hairy Haggis | 27 Sep 2010 12:53 p.m. PST |
I like Captain Apathy too, but a Hairy Haggis is hard to beat, you need a knoby stick to keep him down. |

Not sure if it was intentional (the original spelling), but MFO is cool; as in TMP link |

Were we thinking clever or pun style names? |
ochoin deach | 27 Sep 2010 2:54 p.m. PST |
We're looking at a poll here. And probably one of the more significant ones. I've always liked Extra Crispy (both name & poster) Col Lingus is possibly funny (I'm not entirely sure) & I'd nominate one of Sam Mufasa's if I could remember one. |
Daffy Doug | 27 Sep 2010 2:54 p.m. PST |
I like mine because it is exactly the maximum 30 characters allowed; while also being a brief TMP history of myself; it also expresses my reigning attitude of late
. |
Daffy Doug | 27 Sep 2010 2:56 p.m. PST |
Wow, lookie there; three posts all with the same time stamp. OFM sure knows how to start up provocative threads
. |
darthfozzywig | 27 Sep 2010 4:14 p.m. PST |
Col Lingus One might say that name's in bad taste, but that's perhaps a matter of preference. Or hygiene.
|
mrwigglesworth | 27 Sep 2010 4:41 p.m. PST |
I like Extra Crispy It makes my tummy feel all warm and good. Some times pictors makes it feel the same :) |
Ascent | 27 Sep 2010 4:45 p.m. PST |
Lennin and macartney gets my vote. |
20thmaine | 27 Sep 2010 4:50 p.m. PST |
I was going to start a new account with the name : the cleverest name on TMP and post 1 message stating : ME ! But it's too much bother. Let's just pretend I did. |
CraigSpiel | 27 Sep 2010 5:47 p.m. PST |
My name! Look at it! It is a combination of Gaelic and mispelled German! It is hobby related and uses my real name. How cool is that?! |
The Nigerian Lead Minister | 27 Sep 2010 6:10 p.m. PST |
Extra Cripsy and Captain Apathy have my vote. And of course, I have to nominate myself, The Nigerian Oil Minister. Would you like a spare $29 USD Million, which I have to move out of the country very discretely in the next two weeks? You know the drill. |
Steve Hazuka | 27 Sep 2010 6:13 p.m. PST |
My name, first and only since joining, is the envy of wargamers worldwide. |
ochoin deach | 27 Sep 2010 9:18 p.m. PST |
I'm afraid we'll have to cancel any nominations by posters for their own TMP name as self-praise is no praise at all. (though now it has been explained, CraigSpiel *is* rather good) |
Norman D Landings | 28 Sep 2010 12:04 a.m. PST |
Glad I've given somebody a chuckle! We were sitting around on night shift, and time-passing nonsense activities turned to: 'If you were on the run, what would your alias be?' Possibilities included – Sidney Harberbridge, Nile Delta, Nelson Column and, er
Rusty Panhandle. I plumped for Norman D. Landings. Later that same morning, I go to my usual wargaming site – the original Wargames Directory – and find it's no longer open access & requires a log-in. Fortunately, I happen to have a suitable one on the tip of me tongue. Tried to keep the same name since then. Strangest moment? Went to a weekend game in Yorkshire to find that fellow TMPer Peeler had booked me into the village pub as Norman D. Landings. I'm standing there with me suitcase as the landlord inredulously reads out the name and the crowded bar falls silent
it was a 'Slaughtered Lamb' moment. |
Sane Max | 28 Sep 2010 1:38 a.m. PST |
I rate Norman D Landings Highly, but have always been fond of Connard Sage too. Pat |

A cool name AND a story? Norm has my vote. |
DeanMoto | 28 Sep 2010 9:25 a.m. PST |
it was a 'Slaughtered Lamb' moment. Did anyone blame you for missing the dart board? |

Norman D Landings | 29 Sep 2010 2:17 p.m. PST |
"Gratuitous Saxon Violence!" It's a pun, and it's wargamey! |
Steve Hazuka | 29 Sep 2010 9:18 p.m. PST |
"Gratuitous Saxon Violence" thats another favorite of mine! |
SJDonovan | 02 Oct 2010 6:09 a.m. PST |
I never got the pun in Connard Sage's name. Is there some hidden meaning or a joke that I am completely missing? I do miss his posts though. His were always the one's I looked for first when I logged into TMP. |

I vote for anyone who has GREY in their name. |

How about voting for anyone with gray in their hair? |
Greyalexis | 05 Oct 2010 4:07 p.m. PST |
nope has to be in the name. otherwise we start up that "greying the hobby" and the Editor climbs in and declares it a poltical argument. John will say something and before you know it. greyhaired wargammers are laughed at on the internet. |
Uesugi Kenshin | 05 Oct 2010 9:29 p.m. PST |

Altius | 15 Oct 2010 6:03 a.m. PST |
No gray here. Inshallah. I always liked BigMeanElf's name. I'm not sure if it qualifies as "clever", but the name just put a smile on my face. |
archstanton73 | 18 Oct 2010 10:10 p.m. PST |
Lenin and mcarthy makes me chuckle--very clever on a several different levels
Also Deep Fried just for its insanity
but I also like mine!! Hey leave me alone the gold is NEXT TO ME!! |
The Beast Rampant | 22 Oct 2010 6:27 a.m. PST |
I second Altius on Big Mean Elf. I'm sure there is somebody else, to, it'll come to me later. Can I be Bigger Meaner Elf? Or is like naming your kid Rasputin? |
Altius | 22 Oct 2010 10:33 a.m. PST |
I dunno, with the limited knowledge that the average citizen has of of historical persons and events, you might actually get away with naming your kid Rasputin. Sounds kinda cool, really. But you'd want to be a little more careful with some other names. link |
Pierce Inverarity | 22 Oct 2010 11:19 a.m. PST |
I remember two super-clever poster names on EN World (a D&D board): Monster Manuel Carpe DM |

No, Andrew. It was your wife who was buying the garter belts & lacy lingerie. Honestly. |
